Why the hell does our own campus bookstore not have a single black facking shirt for a black out game

Had these back when I was in school for like $10-$15 for a blackout game. It’s the little things.

First half was excellent. Execution, game management too. That drive at the end of the half was perfect.

Second half was a lot like the second half at SOAL. Playing not to lose.

TXST loading the box every play and we keep running into it. My goodness.

We won the game in the first half. TXST lost it in the second with penalties.

Credit to Sampson. Dude has done a nice job in the second half of the season.

What was attendance?

14 k

Saw several people complaining about ticket prices on FB this week. $28 fees included is not exorbitant, but as a department when we see sales are low going in to a week, why not run a special? I keep getting the ad on FB for $11 tickets to Tulane, and they are competing for a playoff spot.

the 14,231 vs. TXST did not help our overall average attendance. The students just did not show up this game like they have for the previous 4 games. I am not blaming them as the product on the field that they witnessed the first 4 games just was bad except that one quarter vs. Marshall when Lunch came in. The product has improved however I must say. Its just hard to get them back now.

Average attendance now over 5 home games is 20,724. Hope we can keep that above 20K for the season after the ULM game, but we need to BEAT A STate on the road to be playing for a bowl game vs. ULM when we return home! Then we also need to market it as such!

We would need 16,378 to maintain the 20K average for the year. 2 days after Thanksgiving thats just not happening. Especially with this group who refuses to market/run promotions.

Oh yea the students will not be at the ULM game for sure and ULM will not have anything to play for as usual so they won’t bring any fans either for the short drive down south.

Can we just cook the books and say we have 17K at every game like ULM Does??? when they have like 2000.

Personal experience short story..

Some friends won tickets thru Lourdes and were going to their first UL game. Our own schedule magically had a hole in it so we decided to tag along (big thanks to BayouRichard for hooking us up with tickets).

Security/entry was a breeze. Grabbed food and drinks from the Grab & Geaux stations, and headed over to the hill. The kids all ran into friends from school and had a blast. Kudos to the cheerleaders interacting with them, doing 6-7 chants, etc.

These are two UL grads – husband a lifelong LSU fan, wife couldnt care less about any sports. I was worried they would comment on the pitiful crowd, but their main takeaway was “why on earth dont we take advantage of this more often?”. The music volume was great – compared to Rice when it was deafening in the same spot in the stadium.

I understand both sides of the ticket pricing argument, but I can promise you that these 3 people would have NEVER been in that stadium had they not won tickets for free.

They also had no idea that UL volleyball was free admission (their teenage daughter is obsessed with volleyball). Same story with UL soccer (their son’s only sport).

I say all of this just to point out that while our admin is out trying to sell season tickets and RCAF memberships, there are thousands of families like this one that have no idea what the school – their own freakin Alma Mater – offers when it comes to athletics.

So how does the university proceed with engaging people like that without making everything free? Because even as someone who is extremely hard on this athletic department that seems to be the mentality from a certain sector of the community. It’s honestly infuriating to watch both sides of this equation try and operate this relationship like a charity. UL wants to not run it like a business and count on the same folks to give out of loyalty and the goodness of their hearts. Lafayette wants it all free or UL is beneath them. In the words of Sean Price, “I ain’t shit. You ain’t shit. Bitch, we meant for each other.”
