The festival model is undefeated

I don’t think it has to “all be free”, but as others have said, why on Earth are you not running ticket promotions when youre drawing 14k per game?

We spent $0 on 6 tickets yesterday, but probably went over $200 all in on food and beer, not to mention they stopped by AE to grab some UL gear because they didnt have any. More importantly they left the stadium saying “man that was great. We gotta do this more often.”

I get what youre saying – it can’t all be free.. but you gotta get them thru the door somehow, and advertising what a great deal the per-game price for season tickets, is obviously not cutting it

Good laugh here. I recently retired from Lourdes . Glad ya’ll had a good time.

I continue to go back to the days of the Ice Gators. It was not free but you can get in the door for $5. It was a festival atmosphere to @MAT point. 99% of people in that dome had no clue what was going on other when there was a fight. BUT everyone left entertained and had a great time and wanted more.

Few final notes on the game.

-My cabinet is filling up with those Ragin Cajuns beer cups.

-Evangeline Maid bread is the best.

-Victory parking lot parties are fun again

-Frank The Tank is alive and well!!! Even though my wife hates it lol

It’s actually basic marketing strategy that the admin can’t wrap their heads around. The 4 P’s of the marketing mix; product, price, place, and promotion. Does the casual fan see the level of promotion that makes them think Cajun athletic events are the place they should be. Do they view the product as something valuable that they should spend their money on? Do they want to be at Cajun Field and spend hours tailgating? Is the price of tailgating affordable for a casual fan or have we created an exclusive club? Is the casual fan excited by our schedule or do they see other events in the community as having greater value?

The answers are obvious. Customers drive business. Smart leaders listen to their customers, adjust, and look for opportunities to create new customers through consistent promotion.

Well we have to have more visiting fans next game, has to more than the 50 or so that we’ve seen in the past two games. I sent pictures of the usm visitor section during that game to five friends shit that even though they won that game their fans suck. USM has a new coach who brought almost his whole team with him and Hattiesburg is supposed to be excited about the new coach (I don’t think he will be able to recruit well in an area where he is butting heads with 4 SEC teams in spitting distance and I can’t even count the number of other schools that he will have to recruit against) And I made sure to remind them that when UL comes to Hattiesburg we take over a bar before and after the game and fill up a whole section.

I convinced my old college running buddy to finally buy season tickets. It did not start out well as the product on the field was bad but it has turned into excitement. He continues to comment on how he should have bought season tickets in the Napier days. He continues to state how much of a value his season tickets are for great cheap entertainment close to home. We are blessed to have FBS football in Acadiana in a brand new great venue.
