What We Eating Today

Knock off from the on-going What We Listening Today thread, per the great suggestion of someone way smarter than me.

Chicken and vegetable pear gravy with some Trappey’s field peas. Trappey’s peas are good out of the can the way they are, but I always like to add a few spoons of whatever gravy I’m cooking to the pot I put them simmering in.

Mirliton in a gravy is a new one for me. Looks great!

My grandmother used to stuff them and that is the only way I have eaten them. My grandfather used to grow them in his garden.

According to my grandfather, you need to plant the male and female together to produce fruit. I always thought that was interesting.

Yesterday was our host day for Grand Reveil Acadien. We had two food booths, one with gumbo and one with red beans. Both were exceptional. Check out our website to see what we’re building in the village.

I’ve thrown in the towel on athletics bringing happiness. New life goal: get a supper invite to @RCajunRunner ‘s house. Everything you posts looks incredible, sir.

Start of a smoked meatball spaghetti.

Smoked meatball spaghetti sounds incredible. I’ve never thought of that. Been meaning to do a smoke meat chili.

Leftover C&S gumbo today. Spent yesterday eating food on the road all day as the youngest had a band & guard competition that went late.

Gotta think about something for this week. I do want a steak at some point. I’ve also got some shrimp patties I bought from Punch’s in Lockport on my way back from the camp a couple weeks ago. Guess I can be like SpongeBob cooking crabbie patties, except it’ll be shrimppie patties.

I’m cheap just scored some steaks on sale

Damn. We at the point where non-on sale Choice NY Strips are $17.48/lb.

The Prime 1 NY strips at HEB today were $22/lb. I splurged and bought my steaks today both Prime 1.

Filets: $39.99/lb

Bone-in Ribeye: $24.99/lb

Damn baw. You must be rich

I can’t afford steaks anymore. My extra money goes to tickets and RCAF fees :face_vomiting:

Well…I just donate via the website to track & field and baseball these days.
