Smoked Sausage and Tasso

Real simple here, what are your go to places for smoked sausage and tasso?

Bonus if you can tell me places in the Lafayette area where they smoke the sausage and tasso more for more of the smoked flavor. I grew up in Evangeline Parish and find the meat isn’t as smoked here.

Best Stop or Teek’s in Ville Platte. The rest need not apply.

Damn you’re right.

  1. Best Stop
  2. Teek’s
  3. Rod’s

Lejeune’s Sausage Kitchen in Eunice. Only make sausage and Tasso but both are exceptional. A guy who had a truck accessory shop on Mount Vernon used to sell it there but he retired and now you have to go Eunice to buy.

Rod’s is very good. Still got some in my freezer.

Rita’s on LA 98 in Iota.

Rabideaux’s is my favorite smoked sausage.

Rabideaux defiantly has the most intense smoke. While I love the flavor the 1st time, dont like it so much the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.

I really like Cajun Family Traditions off the shelf. If I head to Breaux Bridge or go somewhere that sells Poche’s, I really like them too. Sausage, Tasso, Boudin, and the Potato Salad. Plate Lunches there are pretty good too but usually stick to Champagne’s in Carencro for Plate Lunches and fresh sausage.
