I say for myself as a Republican that is no fan of Trump, that my biggest gripe with all of this is the complete self degradation of the legislative branch. There are no more liberal Republicans or blue dog Democrats. For the last 20 odd years, and it’s gotten worse as time goes on, Congress just does whatever the hell the president wants. And that’s on both ends of the spectrum. The checks that are supposed to be there are just voluntarily given up by Congress because they think they’ll lose their seats. And if they lose their seats then the money stops rolling in. I just want some people on either side to stand up to their own sides sometimes.

You mean like John Fetterman does now and then.

More fake news I guess. Trump said it’s fully open so this must just be lies…

The status of the Gay of Hormuz seems as consistent as our baseball offense right now.

For those who think I just rail against Trump. When he does things I agree with I will give him a pat on the back. I agree with this move.

“President Trump is set to announce new efforts to boost research into psychedelics and potentially make the drugs available in controlled therapeutic environments, according to people who spoke on the condition of anonymity.”

But will it ever be federally legal? If its taken this long and marijuana is not, makes me think psychedelics will never be also.

There is a group of growers in Acadiana. I know one personally. Lots of positive feedback. Also have seen lots of studies overseas where there are huge upside to psychedelics and how it can rewire our brains positively.

Like lots of medication and you can include alcohol, when abused, its harmful.

Completely agree.

I lean towards federally legalizing weed and psychedelics but with the good comes the bad. Abusing anything can be bad but I have friends who have had a lot more results for pain and anxiety from weed than anything else.

There are benefits noted when considering marijuana and psychedelics as treatment options for certain conditions. There are clinical trials being conducted that show promise when using psychedelics to treat mental health conditions. Marijuana has noted positive effects in managing pain and other conditions. Legalization, would open the market to access. The current medical marijuana model used in Louisiana is a pay to play scheme where a very small group of politically connected sellers reap profits. I imagine even if legalization were to occur we will manage to pass laws in this state to keep the good old boy system in place.

My concern with marijuana is specific to THC content. If legalized, high THC content products will be introduced into the market which have their own dangerous effects.

This is already happening in many places. I’ve heard horror stories of kids getting a hold of a bag of gummy bears or chips thinking these are just candy.

Unfortunately, consequences are much more serious than when we used to sneak into our parents liquor cabinet or steal smokes.

Edit: forgot to mention we also heard the story of one of our Ragin Review friends who ate the head off of a neighbors gummy.

If they are legalized they need to make sure levels never get dangerously high.

Many strains of marijuana are 20%–30% THC, and concentrates can hit 95%. This is a significant shift from the 3%–5% concentrations common in the 90s.

The higher levels of THC with regular use increase the risk of mental and physical health problems.

From the Babylon Bee:

Another staged assassination attempt by Trump & Company. Just like he had to do in Pennsylvania in 2024 to build sympathy and avoid getting drummed by President Biden in a landslide.

Are you high?

Who? Me?

No sir. The people who sign my paycheck probably wouldn’t look fondly upon such foolishness.

I still can’t believe people are saying that the Assassination attempts are faked. People got hurt and killed in these supposed fakes.
