After yesterdays recent incident, figured it may be time to have this open and civil discussion.
Just to be transparent and I love all you blokes and we all have more in common than not.
Yesterday’s IMO shooting was a worst case scenario for trump’s deportations strategy and ICE/CBP. In my opinion from all the angles, the killing of Alex Petti is in no shape justifiable. He never once brandished his firearm or threaten the agents what so ever. If Petti was maintaining a healthy distance from the agents until one of the agents shoed and maced one of the females there to which he then went to go try and help. The one agent was able to unholster Pettis firearm while both of Pettis hand were restrained in front of him. The first shot didn’t happen until after his fire arm was removed and the agent was already walking away. And then proceeding to mag dump on him after he clearly he was no longer a threat is ridiculous. They really know they f’ed up when they didn’t even know where his gun was after they shot him which makes it even a worse look.
As a 2A participant, the lack of training these agents have is extremely concerning. They have to understand the heavy implications carrying a firearm possesses, not just for yourself but others as well.
Petti did everything right by constitutional standards and was killed for it while helping a woman after getting bear maced in the face.
Not to mention this whole ICE deportation strategy has been an absolute cluster fucker with no thought process and strategy behind it.
I believe in a strong immigration policy. One that takes criminals off the streets and prioritizes citizenship for those here who have earned it through hard work. What we are seeing now is disgusting and not at all aimed at criminals. I personally know people who have been caught up in it and I won’t listen to any argument that says this is about criminals.
I also won’t listen to any argument that justifies what happened yesterday. The agents involved should be thrown under the jail. Any justification for the killing is completely unamerican. Regardless of agreeing with someone else’s position, if someone is practicing their constitutional rights, what happened yesterday should not happen. ICE agents are completely in over their head and have zero training. They are cosplaying and it’s costing American lives.
“Targeted operations” are now just code for racial profiling. History always repeats itself and we are headed toward 1930s Germany if you can’t see that it’s just willful ignorance.
you can be pro 2A and support what happened yesterday. The man did nothing wrong and dude cause he was expressing his “god given right” (I hate that freaking term lol) as a 2A believer.
Do we need stronger boarders and work on illegal immigration issues absolutely. But his policies for this is reckless and is cause us to lose relationships with our closest allies and if hurting the economy more than helping.
This is the biggest issue I have with immigration policy. There are a large number of immigrants who come here for opportunity. Many fail to grasp that they contribute to our economy; by building homes, harvesting crops, and more. What many fail to consider is what the economic impact would be if immigrants weren’t here and working these jobs. What do you think would happen to the prices of homes if developers couldn’t hire immigrant labor? What do you think would happen to the price of fruits and vegetables if immigrant labor wasn’t doing the harvesting?
I agree Immigrants create more opportunities that issues. They are statistically at lower crime rate percent than anyone else, the spend money which in turn helps the economy and many of them are doing jobs that most won’t do at a fraction of the pay
Don’t condemn anyone unless you have been in the same type of situation. Many people want to play Monday Morning QB & bash both sides based on 30 seconds videos they see on social media. Comments about ICE agents trainings based on assumptions you hear in the media are idiotic. You have no idea what training they have completed or not. Fact is the guy showed up armed to a protest. Fact is there was an incident where the weapon was seen. Fact is an agent that saw it yelled “gun” alerting other agents of the gun. Those agents, like all law enforcement, fell back to their training. Those agents are doing what they are trained to do in order to go home safely to their families. It would be nice if people waiting for investigations to be completed instead of rising to judgement with blinders on.
There is a path to legal residency and citizenship, and no one should be able to cut the line illegally. My wife is a legal immigrant who spent 10s of thousands of dollars to do it the right way.
We need to strictly enforce our borders, deport illegals, and enforce our current immigration laws.
Anyone who impedes our federal law enforcement officers from doing their job should be deported along with the illegals. It’s a damn disgrace what those idiots up in Minnesota are doing.
So if I, as a U.S, Citizen, protest actions of U.S. law enforcement I should be deported? I want to make sure I understand correctly. If that is what you are suggesting, should I also be deported if I protest the actions of Congress or the President?
I get all of this. There’s many undocumented workers here who want a better life and will do everything in their power to make sure they get it by working low wage jobs and try to earn a living. But the US also has a procedural process that these undocumented immigrants have to follow in order to enjoy that privilege and they don’t which holds up the line for the millions of people who want to come here the right way.
It would be like if I’m at Piccadilly on a Sunday after the church crowd comes in and I wait in line for 30 minutes about to get my tray and pick what I want to eat. I wouldn’t like it if 20 people just cut me at the last minute to grab their trays and order ahead of me. That’s what’s happening with our immigration system right now.
I’m all for people coming here for a better opportunity. I’m the grandson of two immigrants myself. But we have to follow the structure in place to get here before it gets out of hand which I think we are about at that point.
I personally wouldn’t deport them but if you impede on federal investigations or law enforcement, you should definitely face consequences.
I’ve haven’t read up on what happened yesterday, but the last place I’d be would be somewhere protesting any law enforcement site whether you agree with what they’re doing or not. You’re almost walking into a hornet’s nest at that point.
There are levels of force. Officer presence is the first level. You impede their movements, they will go up a level (push you out of the way). You step in while doing to impede what’s in progress, they will go another level which is spray. If a weapon (gun, knife) is present, they will go to the top level which is deadly force if necessary. How much training have you completed? How many of these situations have you been in? It’s easy to say you want agents under the jail while sitting at home watching social media.
Notice how all of the big national drama stems from Minneapolis. There’s something about that city that just causes chaos for the rest of the country.
I haven’. Nor do I need to. I can interpret what my eyes are seeing. Cosplayers approached the victim and the female who were off to side of street. Cosplayers escalated this situation and there is zero argument you can make that will change that. It’s completely Unamerican.
“The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command"
Here’s some advice. Before you go around bashing law enforcement with your blinders on, take a course when local agencies host them. Anything from criminal interdiction to use of force. If will open your eyes and give you a new perspective.
