The Peace President

There is a big difference between not being a good man and what Trump is. Trump is everything you teach your kids not to be. Complete waste to society.

I also don’t believe we have had a good president in about 65ish years. JFK was a turning point and since then we have been downhill. And even with JFK we don’t know ultimately what he would have been. LBJ was able to get a lot done but Vietnam killed his presidency.

Lyndon Johnson was a huge piece of shit.

I wonder which church he will rename after himself?

Embarassing…

Just gonna sanity check myself here. Christians have to be really concerned about this right? All Christians, not just right wing or left wing.

And just because someone is going to say “oh it’s clearly a joke!”… I mean, are we giving the President the right to joke about the Messiah now? For real?

He also had a long unhinged post about the pope.

All? No. Which is just an inherent failing of organized religion. There are wildly different beliefs within any religion, but with the whole world watching, each individual follower becomes a representative of the faith in its entirety.

There is concern in the Christian world though. I attended two services this past week. One a Catholic wedding and my usual Sunday service at a United Methodist Church. Both priest and reverend made poignant comments on the current state of our society. The priest pointed to Christ on the cross and said, “this is the way of Christ…which is not the way of our world.” Our reverend’s sermon was on fake versions of Jesus that society has adopted and on the Christ of the Gospels who sets the example of the way we should lead our lives. I fall short frequently. Despite my frustrations and disappointments with the world, it helps to remember my own failings. I have to leave room for grace for others, as I certainly need grace for myself.

Agree, to a point. We all need grace. But there is a difference between giving grace, and sitting idly by while stuff like this occurs.

There’s a word for this type of behavior from the President. The word is blasphemy.

Unfortunately I think a large percentage of American Christians have been convinced to accept it. Normalize it.

My expectation would be that after seeing a picture like this, every major church leader would speak out. Not to condemn the President. But merely to acknowledge that this sort of behavior does not represent our belief. And yet…what we are probably going to get is silence.

Don’t worry guys…he’s just stupid and thought it was a picture of him as a Dr.

I agree with you, and I think the way you phrased it would probably be an appropriate way to address it.

I went to my doctor the other day and he had on a white robe with a red sash. I thought his attire and the ball of light in his hand were a little odd. I’m relieved to know this is just the way medicine is practiced now.

the last thing you see before thanksgiving is light hits you…

I didn’t understand your post, then I saw this:

Editing to add, in the grand scheme of Trump controversies…this is barely a blip in the radar for me personally, but happy to see the light turning on for others regarding his blaspheming.

Like you this is nowhere near the top of the list for worst things he has said or done. They need to take grandpas phone away.

To all of you TDS patients, I guess we should have done nothing and pass this festering issue off to the next generation. Just kick the can down the road like we’ve done for the last 47 years. As military technology evolves and the largest terrorist nation in the world becomes more capable, we should just walk with blinders on. That will work well for our children and grandchildren.

The just say “don’t“ and hope for a better tomorrow strategy by President AutoPen would have been better course of action, right?

Or maybe we should send more cash like Obumma did?

If your hatred of Trump, trumps everything else, then you have a real problem and you’re not engaging in principled opposition, you’re prioritizing personal animus over national outcomes.

Criticize specific policy on the merits. But reflexive, all-consuming opposition that celebrates setbacks or ignores measurable progress reveals the priority isn’t “country first”, Its “Trump last”, even if it means undermining border control, economic momentum, or peace through strength efforts.

True patriotism judges leaders by what they deliver for the nation, not by how much they trigger you. America benefits when results matter more than rage. None of you know and that means all of you, including me, know all the factors that went into this so-called “war of choice”.
