I don’t know who wrote it up I think it was in the Daily Advertiser, but the buy-out for Coach if he is fired Without Cause before Dec. 1st is a little less than 2 million, and to get another quality coach would probably be a little over 1 million a year, so is there anyway we can find someone who will be willing to spot the Cajuns that much and a little more to hire good quality assistants. I just don’t think we will be good for the next couple years if we keep Coach.
He will be here forever especially with the budget cuts looming . I can see them renegotiating assistant coaches salarypool and amenitie budgets slashed. Going to be some lean years and not a very attractive job.
Unfortunately we did not do a national search when we had the hottest G5 football coach opening, but Des painfully has been learning in the job. Hoping it works out and I am not giving up just yet because I know he is here for a few more years at least.
Dude, we understand that you don’t like Des but you sound like a broken record. Lose a game… Fire Des. Win a game… Fire Des. Run out of Natty Light…. Fire Des.
We need to fix this before we aren’t an attractive job is all I’m getting at. We can find one person that is willing to donate 20 million for a 5 year plan, then we might be able to start making money with this program.
Write the check big dawg!
If I had it, I would
If a booster walks in and says here’s a check but you must fire the coach, that administration loses all credibility. Look at Auburn whose administration has been listening to boosters when it comes to hiring and firing coaches. Their football program hasn’t been relevant since 2017 and has 4 straight losing season.
Or you can be like Texas Tech, , Cody Campbell and John Sellers run the show there. Just need an alum to sell their company for a billion dollars
They buy the roster but I don’t think they say which coach to fire/hire. Damn near any coach can win if they’re buying the players.
Firing a coach a year after a 10 win season and conference championship host with very little NIL money does not make it an attractive job.
You think those guys don’t get a say in who’s coaching if they are buying their roster lol. Houston is another example Fajitas meddling got them into the BIG 12 and a trip to the Natty in basketball. Didn’t even mention Oregon
All of that is ridiculous, except for the last one. Running out of Nattys would require a complete replacement of the ALL Athletic Department officials.
Happened before and will happen again. Start the search for replacements now.
We run out of water, why would you not think we would run out of Nattys again?
We would sell our souls, all womens’ sports, and the Cajundome to be as “not relevant” as Auburn
We have two options:
- Offer a P4 coordinator $400k + a big pile of incentives
- Pay a local guy a not-so-great salary and just hope everybody likes him and his .500 record
Only problem is that somehow we forgot to lowball the unqualified local guy
Joker Take of the day.
People still questioning me if we need a new head coach after what we just saw against JMU?
yeah but we literally can’t do a thing about it so ![]()
I’m willing to take that chance.
Problem is Martin Hall ran those folks off a couple decades ago because they “didn’t want athletics to run the school”.
Well look now, we’re still a laughing stock with the current budget deficit.
It’s not going to happen lol
