Fired after a win. Ouch.

Bring him back on Florida’s dime

Not surprised. The big $$$ boosters at Florida wanted him gone. Billy will be fine. He will coach again and of course has that $20 million buyout.

I don’t think Billy would come back here with today’s football budget. It’s not nearly what he had to work with. Word is the athletic department is broke.

Its about to have even less money after the next round of cuts

He will be hired by Georgia Southern once they fire Helton

Billy will have extra cash for Christmas.

$21 million buyout. That’s 21 reasons why he left UL and took the job. No downside. That’s why Brian Kelly took the LSU job.

It was $51.8 million total reasons.

Take the Ed Orgeron approach… “What time you want me to leave and what door you want me out of.”

If I were the athletic director at UL, my first call without hesitation would be to Billy Napier. I’d ask him to return as a consultant, someone who could immediately elevate the program’s trajectory. Depending on how the Desormeaux situation unfold whether Des proves to be the long-term answer or not Napier could either support from behind the scenes or seamlessly transition back into the head coaching role. And if the right offer comes along for his next coaching gig, he’d be free to move on with our full respect.

Think of it like Arkansas bringing back Bobby Petrino. Strategic. Smart. Proven.

We’d be foolish not to offer this to Napier. He showed up, leaned in, and made it clear he still respects and enjoys being part of the UL community. That kind of connection doesn’t come around often and we’d be wise to act on it

Or…. He knows alot of what is going on behind UL’s iron curtain and is going to stay light years away from this place.

I can’t see bringing Napier in under Dez. What’s Levi doing these days?? Does he want to be an OC?? His winning percentage will probably never be touched by this program again. Kid was a winner. I still think it’s hilarious how much credit Napier got compared to how little Levi got. Napier has done nothing special in his career without Levi.

Anyone could have won behind that OL and stable of backs . Heck a walk on JUCO QB won 7 games . If Wooldridge would have played on the 20 & 21 team UL would have played in 2 NY6 games.

The 2020 oline was full of studs. Nice to see O’Cyrus and Robert Hunt visiting for homecoming. 2 of the very best guards in the league right now

It pissed me off that they announced Torrence. Dude left us for Florida. They had a bunch of former players on the sideline I would have preferred them being recognized over him.

Hard to blame O’Cyrus. Theoretically he increased his draft status by going to SEC. I’m sure he got some cash in the deal also.

Unrelated but getting to see him in person as an NFL OL was really awesome. He’s grown into a beast. He was insanely talented when he got here but remember, pretty raw. He’s come a long way. Hard not to claim him :joy:

Cant be too upset with O’Cyrus he just followed his head coach, not the same as the bag chasers.
