Players Quitting and Firing Coaches

It’s the Billy methodology.

I’m not a burner and I think it whole heartedly.

This was the play that made me send and receive several texts along the lines of ā€œit looks like we’re playing defense with 8 guys right now.ā€ The lack of effort clearly shows why. When people aren’t pursuing the ball on the back end, the field looks very empty

I thought he figured his mistakes out last year, turns out it was just Ben Woolridge.

What is ā€œyetā€ for you?

If we finish 3-9 I see him back next season.

But 2-10? 1-11? Does Maggard make a move? Probably not. Hometown hire. But finishing the season with any of the 3 above would be disappointing af

Unless there is a locker room incident, he will have till at least 2027, regardless of results.

What’s Des buyout? Just curious

Does anyone know his current contract extension details? This is all I could find.

Contract (2021–2026):

  • Base Salary: $755,000 per year
  • Assistant Coach Salary Pool: $2.5 million.
  • Performance Incentives:
    • New Year’s Six Bowl or CFP Appearance: $250,000
    • Conference Championship Win: $50,000
    • National Coach of the Year: $50,000
    • Top 25 Ranking Finish: $25,000
    • Division Championship: $25,000
    • Win vs Power 5 Team: $10,000
    • Academic Incentives: $25,000

.

I would think, barring any scandals, we aren’t making any head coaching changes in any sport under an interim president during a budget reduction.

Out of the major sports, I think Deggs is the only coach that will be going into a contract year.

I dont see any changes coming soon due our financial status.

I’ll say it again. I think Dez could be a good coach here for a long time. I’d like to see him hand off play calling to leger and put leger in the booth to get a better view of the field. Dez can work on coaching up players and bitching and refs on the sidelines and get his face out of the play sheet. I would like to think this would help all parties involved.

Not saying I disagree with anything here, but I always wonder what the fascination with Tim Leger is. I don’t get the hype.

Is it hype or curiosity? I dont know if he called plays while he was OC at McNeese. I dont think he has ever been given the opportunity to call the plays here. Definitely has not called them for the current HC or last.

He is the OC. Give him the opportunity and lets see if something changes. That is my take.

Lots of people here know Xs & Os better than I do. I think it would be an interesting stat to know the ratio of play callers and where they are located. How many are on the field and how many are in the booth?

Has to be an advantage of calling from the booth where you can actually see the whole field.

I agree play caller should be in the booth. Our OC and DC are on the sideline.

I only said let leger call plays because he’d be the option on the staff after Dez.

Think it is simply because he is ā€œOCā€

Unfortunately, we are stuck with Des after a poor decision by Dr. Maggard to extend him. He was dying to justify his initial decision of hiring Des, thinking a 10 win season, was the perfect timing. We beat a bunch of bad teams during the season, and have lost embarrassingly since he signed the extension.

Coach Des has not shown to be a good coach. He is poor at recruiting, preparing a team for games, and in game management. The proof is for all to see. We are in a terrible situation, for years to come. Gloomy, yes, but reality is not always positive, that’s just life.
