ICE and CBP

is this where I call you a fascist? Your labels are F’n childish. You aren’t a tough guy.

I don’t have to justify who or who I don’t vote for but I didn’t vote for Obama either.

So Andy comes into the arena with a softball topic, I see. Lol

It’s become clear why no other politician was willing to take on this issue. Which is precisely why the immigration problem is so untenable.

Again though, multiple things can be true at once. We’re in this situation because elections have consequences and policies deeply impact society. Going into American cities to eradicate criminal illegals was always going to be a mess. There was always going to be collateral damage. There is no silver bullet.

But also, unleashing a federal force of law enforcement that act with total immunity is not only a very dangerous precedent to set, it’s about as anti-American as any ideal gets. You can not expect the public to trust and support masked groups of officers patrolling neighborhoods and demanding papers. When the public is distrusting, they will revolt. History is pretty reliable when it comes to teaching that lesson.

It is also well documented that many of these ICE agents have no background in law enforcement, are not receiving traditional officer training and in some cases (I believe because of an AI screening error), were deployed without being trained at all. In the majority of cases, DHS is giving these guys a crash course and throwing them out on the streets to ramp up force numbers. That’s not an opinion: That’s what DHS themselves are saying.

As is usual, there is blame to go around on both sides but I have to say, personal opinion, watching these civilian videos of the shootings of the woman a couple weeks ago and then this guy yesterday, it’s very very hard to defend the actions of the officers involved. And I’m sure the protesters agitated the situation beforehand, but as officers are trained, it is their duty to deescalate at all costs. In both situations, it’s blatantly obvious that they did the opposite.

What no one is really talking about is how bad this is for the Trump “mass deportation” agenda. Which I totally support, btw. But everytime a shooting involving ICE happens, the optics look worse and worse. Public opinion polls on this are badly underwater already.

It would be going much smoother if the media and public acted in the same manner as when President Barack Obama deported over 3 million illegal immigrants out of this country. Nobody gave a shit then and therefore, let ICE do their job.

I haven’t watched all the videos but one that I did see he was standing in the middle of the road until the woman was approached by ICE. I’m on the fence with all this. Do I support PEACEFUL protests? Yes even though I believe them to be pointless. Do I support idiots antagonizing and impeding federal law enforcement? No. There is only one place where we are seeing this and it just so happens to be the same place that started all the BS in 2020. I am at the point where I’m not even sure that I should be believing what my eyes are seeing which is crazy.

That’s where the distrust of mainstream media comes from the right. They were screaming about “Trump putting kids in cages” back in 2018 when it was the Obama administration who built the cages as early as 2014. But I didn’t even know those cages existed until 2018 when the MSM started covering it.

For Obama, 2.4- 2.7 million of that 3 million where people just turned around at the border and reported as a deportation. The current strategy is just go into cities and try and find some people.

As @MAT mentioned, whataboutism literally gets you nowhere.

If the last administration hadn’t let in 10 million people and shipped them all over the country we wouldn’t have the need to “go into cities” to clear them out.

The people responsible for that invasion should be arrested

I’m not a fan of whataboutism but I have noticed a lot of fake outrage from one side when both sides do similar things.

I guess it’s just Politics 2026.

This is where I’m at too. At this point, maybe it is all staged. Maybe BiBi is using ICE agents against DJT until he bombs Iran. Who tf knows…

So why not just focus heavy on stoping any new illegals at the borders and offer the once’s currently here a path to legalization. As deporting 10 million will just set the economy back. Adding millions of tax payers will only help the budget

I think most people want this as it’s the most logical solution. But every person here has such unique situations that it would take a lot more of a complex solution than just blanket legislation.

Please elaborate on that..

This is an excellent idea. The current path to citizenship is filled with bureaucracy and unnecessarily complicated.

How would you decide who stays and who goes? How would you curry trust with the “immigrants” after all of this comeupins?

I wouldn’t be opposed to something like that as long as those people are hard working, paying taxes, and not on any entitlements.

Of the 10 million that were transported all over the country by Biden using our tax dollars, experts estimate that, at least, 8% are violent criminals. Should we not try to get 800,000 criminals off of our streets?

AT MINIMUM, any illegal alien with as much as a speeding ticket needs to be kicked tf out of this country. And to go a step further, any elected official that decided to aid and abed law breaking with regard to immigration should indicted, convicted and spend many years in a cage for being a facking traitor. Americans that benefitted from this crap are far worse than the actual immigrants themselves.

There’s a lot of it but I’ll list a few from both angles:

The left screamed about “Trump putting kids in cages” when it was under Obama’s Presidency that they were built. I didn’t even know they existed until 2018 because of the silence up until that point.

The left always preaches freedom to express yourself unless you disagree with them. Then you’re a “racist, fascist mysoginist.”

The right always talks about “America first” while Trump is signing oil deals with the Saudi’s and some feel isn’t doing enough at home.

The right supports smaller government but continues to spend more and more under its leadership racking up more debt.

These are just a few examples to give a broader perspective of the hypocrisy on both sides. For those who know me, you know my political views; but like I say about UL, we the people are supposed to be the customer/boss of the politicians that we elect.

I agree yes if you have any type of criminal record you should not be allowed the pathway in. I also think you must have a stable form of income and if they are to receive any form of government assistance they must meet a certain income to govt. assistance ratio. Are the main criteria IMO.

My idea is that:

Also if they were found not to be paying any income taxes they must pay it back. If they are unable to supply these details they have a set time period to prove their income they are receiving trough some from of government bank account. If you have proved your income volumes over “x” months you can proceed with the tax repayment through that account and once completed of those two steps you are granted the pathway in. Your “bank account will then remain with the government for x amount of years for monitoring or until you reach citizenship to which you account can then be transfers to a private bank of your choosing.

If you are not able to prove your income or your income to govt assistance ratio is to low over that time period the govt you will be deported. If you want you can implement a penalty that the govt would keep an amount of funds from that account as repayment for any taxes you were supposed to be paying anyways

If you don’t opt in at all…for sure deported…

Ultimately the idea is we want proof that immigrant is a contributing member to society and not a POS person. As long as they can prove it and pay what was owed, I see no issue why they should be allowed to stay.

Let’s focus on the solution not the problem.

Adding: I would be fine denying though if they did have to accept any form of govt assistance.
