Wanted to get a conversation going on World Cup that will be starting next week.
Anyone interested? I know there are a few soccer fans here.
Anyone plan on attending some games? Son and I will likely make a trip late this month to see a match. Just have not decided on Dallas or Houston or the exact match.
Heading to Mexico City for the opener. Tickets are ridiculous so will probably watch it at their fan fest. Only chance to go to a game in Houston is Saudi Arabia vs Cabo verde so will most likely go if the tickets get down to around $100
That one is on the decision tree for sure. Mainly because of the price. Other option is to head to Dallas to see Japan vs Sweden. Can get tickets for around $500 or so.
Closest I’m getting to the World Cup is the Fan Fest meet and greet at my office with DaMarcus Beasley

I’ve spent most of the year working as a contractor for FIFA. Visited AT&T and Arrowhead last week. The stadiums look great.
Wanted to go to the Scotland - Haiti game next week, but the flights from Lafayette to Boston are cheaper than the tickets. It’s a shame. 28 years since we made it into the tournament and it’s a huge deal back home. Wanted to share that experience with my family.
Settled on going to Atlanta for Czechia vs. South Africa. Those tickets are reasonable. Surprising my son with the trip.
That would be a great game. I will be in Ecuador when they play against Curaçao on Saturday night the 20th. Hoping to watch it somewhere local with a good atmosphere. Living in Houston currently and you wouldn’t even know the World Cup is on next week
I feel like FIFA is like the Olympics or horse racing. When it comes on, many people are “HuGe FaNs!” But know nothing about it.
My son wanted world cup tickets for his bday, so 3 of us are going to Saudi Arabia vs Cape Verde in Houston. Really excited to get into watching the games. I don’t like the extended teams format, hoping it doesn’t dull down the pool games with so many mismatches.
I am not one who typically watches soccer but that Mexico - South Africa game was honestly great. 3 red cards is wild. I’m excited to see how this Czechia - South Korea game goes

From what my son is telling me, TikTok is full of videos of Scottish taking over Boston. Some flaming pubs are running out of beer.
From someone who has been on Union Street during a World Cup, I believe it. Scottish are built different. Us Cajuns just think we can drink.
I absolutely love VAR used for mistaken identity. It’s about time they use technology to eliminate the phantom fouls. This could really improve the game and get more Americans on board.
I also loved the guy continue to try to argue after they made the call. I mean, dude…the whole world just watched you curl up on the ground after no contact, give it a rest

I didnt go to the Fan Fest but son and I went to the Japan vs Sweeden game in Dallas last Thursday. I have to say the experience ranks as one of the most fun sporting event that I have ever been to. It ranks right up there with the Braves vs Astros World Series game.
I looked into going to the Fan Fest pregame but its quite a ways away from the Dallas stadium. So we drove right in and got to the stadium about 5 hours before the game. Went to Texas Live and then made our way to the game about 2-1/2 hours before kickoff.
Don’t know about the Dallas Fan Fest but we went to the one in Atlanta before a game 2 weeks ago. It was very close to the stadium.
It was free and wouldn’t be a bad place to watch on the big screen. Just be prepared. Concessions are about what you’d expect plus a bit more.
