Alesi’s Building for Sale

The tlc , with everything on it is my go to

This will be like a death in my family when they finally close. A part of me will die that day. Also, a part of Lafayette’s soul will die that day. Sooo many memories. :sob:

I remember going there when it was one of the last buildings on Johnston street!

It’s been packed every time I’ve passed by since the sale was announced. I’m sure that will be a short honey moon phase, but hopefully somebody in this situation will realize this is a place worth preserving.

Me too. No mall. 2 lane country roads.

Growing up, Alesi’s was the place to be after any Cajun sports event. They stayed open late back then on Saturday nights to catch the post game crowd after football games and basketball games. When the Cajuns were playing away, we were at Alesi’s. I remember the first time we played Tulane in the Dome, somebody brought a radio into the restaurant. An entire restaurant full of people hanging on every word from Don Allen.

Alesi’s, to me, is the most overrated Lafayette staple. Their food just tasted like Chef Boyardee canned meals or tombstone frozen pizzas. I’ll miss the sign, though.

The rest of the menu was good to me. Just know this. Mr Alesi was from Italy. He imported a lot of ingredients, like the sausage, from Italy. That pizza was real deal Italian.
