I know this subject has been covered before. But saw this thread on reddit started by a Tulane fan. Interesting stuff. Im kinda torn on the PAC 12 move up, interested in everyone’s opinion.

We can barely afford the sunbelt so adding travel cost is not going to happen. Footballs not the issue but travel for every other support would be terrible.
We would have to get at least 15 million more a year from the Pac-12 to move up because the travel would be so much more. I would love the competition in the Pac 12, but the travel is too much.
You 100% try it if offered
I don’t know why we keep doing this to ourselves. We are not getting a PAC 12 or Big 12 invite. At this point, focus on winning as many SBC titles as possible, and hope the Acadiana community starts supporting our athletic programs with increased attendance to help pay the bills.
Then we can speculate about being in the conversation.
We absolutely should make the move, if a formal offer is made. But we’d need a full share immediately and an additional travel partner.
Let’s call a spade a spade. Because of Authement and t slow the criminal, the university has been financially hurt for years to come. Until we get away from everything cajun mafia, we are screwed. To hell with both men’s legacies.
I don’t see the PAC giving us a full disbursement initially if we were to get an invite. Texas State didn’t and we will be treated the same.
A move to the PAC would mean UL leadership would have to make a significant commitment to funding athletics, expanding our donor pool, and ensuring we minimize deficit spending.
Finally, our media landscape is changing. Streaming and changing consumer behavior are going to impact future media rights deals. My expectation is we start to see the implementation of a tiered media rights payment structure. SEC/Big 10, remaining P5, and lastly G6. I think we will see rates increase for national brands, especially the SEC/Big10 and it will be at the expense of the G6 as a whole. This is why I believe the future of college athletics is in regional conferences that minimize cost to schools and maximize opportunities for fans to travel.
