Step Back!

Saturday night I witnessed a terrible offensive performance by the Cajuns. They could not even complete the simplest of plays and/or throws/catches. Everyone I have talked to since then appears to be so disappointed and standing right on the ledge. However, I think we should at least take a step back and give them another game and see what happens before we jump! But, if I see a similar performance next Saturday, I will lead and be the first one to jump!!!

Standing on the ledge is a classic Cajun tradition!

Colossal disappointment. All the hype for the football team. Opening a brand new stadium. First game of the year…at home…..to set the tone, and we $#!t the bed. ZERO fire from this team. Zero fire on the sideline. Playing Rice…..RICE! A rebuilding team with a new coach, new players and a new scheme came into OUR brand new house, and put their foot up our a$$es. Pathetic.

Being a lifelong Braves, Saints, and Cajuns fan, you would think by now that I would know better than believe the preseason hype. Dammit, they got me again.

Hope Des remembers playing McNeese in 2007. That was the last time that I was as mad as I was Sat night walking out of Cajun Field.

Hey, guys, look at the bright side. The ESPN announcers Saturday night called us Louisiana.

Dan McDonald I’m assuming?

If we lose to McNeese, I will be jumping from any ledge I can find.

McNeese or not, this season is over..

MAYBE you can salvage something out of it with winning every remaining game, including @ Missouri, but that still won’t get you into the playoff.

Plus LSU has about 5 wins in a row on their schedule so they’ll be top 5 by then.

This loss set the team back so far you can only laugh about it

I’ve been thinking about the loss Saturday, and I am left with one question, ā€œWhat is the identity of Ragin’ Cajun Football?ā€ My answer right now is we are a football team that is consistently inconsistent. We will win football games by playing up to competition and then turn around and lose games that leave fans scratching their heads by failing to play fundamental football. This is a pattern that has played out consistently going back over multiple coaching tenures. The game against Rice was deflating because we’re showing off a major renovation and then we take the field and send a message to those attending, ā€œnew coat of paint, still USLing it on the field.ā€ Think of the businesses you patronize, if you never knew what to expect every time you engaged them for a good or service would you keep going back? Jumping off the ledge becomes a realistic outcome when prices rise, and the product on the field remains the same, consistently inconsistent.

A hard fought W next weekend over a well respected McNeese football program should energize the fanbase and set us up for a fun season.

IF rice ends up being a dark horse team (which idk if that’ll happen which is why I said ā€œifā€) and we don’t drop anymore games, the season isn’t quite over. But if we keep seeing the same offensive performance like on Saturday then yes. Trying to be an optimist here

Rice won’t be bowl eligible.

The way we played Saturday there are a lot of loses on our schedule this year. We had an opportunity to elevate ourselves slightly by beating an AAC lower echelon team. We were at least a 10 point favorite, at home in a brand new stadium. And we S**t the bed. Open receivers were overthrown and if the throws were on time and accurate, they were dropped. After the defense showed up in the second half and we had the momentum, how many 3 and outs did the offense have primarily due to dropped passes? Rice will be lucky to win 3 or 4 games this year. Can’t sugar coat it . . . this was a bad loss. It will take an awful lot of effort on the part of the football staff and players to turn the momentum around and salvage this season. Hope I am wrong but I am looking down at the abyss.

Even worse. Rice Qb was a converted WR in a new scheme with new coach. There D line isn’t bad. They thew practically no passes amd was totally 1 demisional. Moving forward is the only thing we can and hope it was just a bad game

I believe Des will make adjustments and Beale will step up. This team will make us proud.

I agree with it… honestly the offense we are running suited Ben really well and Beale is closest to Ben out of the 3

The optics with the Rice loss are awful. They will win 5 games at best. The tape is out and the smoke and mirrors associated with their spread option will be curtailed. The last time I was that angry leaving a game was LaTech in ā€˜14. That Bulldog team was a horse of a much different color than this Rice squad. We absolutely shit the bed and between our loss and GS lose to Fresno State, made it almost impossible for the SBC to represent the G6 in the CFP. It’s very early, but the house may already be on fire.

What could make things right? Finish the season 10-2 at worst and win the SBC. That was my floor and I’m sticking with those expectations.

Not sure how you see that based on what we saw Saturday night. This team is not good, and I’m not sure how anyone thought we’d win the SBC considering what we lost last year.

Last year on senior day I remember thinking, holy shit, we’re losing damn near everyone
