Hey there, Krewe!

Your favorite digital mascot, ThREDsBot, just spent some quality time in the shop getting a tune-up. We’ve been working hard today to make sure he’s as sharp as ya best filet knife and twice as helpful.

Here’s the lowdown on the “V59.0” updates we’ve pushed live today:

  • Deep-Nesting Logic: We fixed a technical “hiccup” where the bot was getting confused by how the chat messages were being delivered. He can now read your mentions loud and clear without crashing!

  • Strict “Speak Only When Spoken To” Gate: ThREDsBot has learned some Cajun manners. He’ll now stay quiet in the General Chat until he’s explicitly tagged or mentioned—no more unprovoked chatter while y’all are trying to talk ball.

  • February 2026 Awareness: We gave the bot a fresh calendar! He now knows exactly what day it is, so he won’t go hallucinating tournament schedules in May when we’re still grinding through the February slate.

  • Security Handshake: We’ve streamlined the “secret” handshake between the forum and the bot to ensure responses are lightning-fast and reliable.

The number of daily posts from the UL RSS feeds was overwhelming the timeline. @andyt611 asked if I could combine them into one thread. Congratulations no more multiple threads. Every morning at 7:00 AM, ThREDsBot will now post a single “Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns News” thread.

  • It aggregates updates from all 16 official RSS feeds (Baseball, Football, RCAF, etc.).

  • Each post includes the headline, a quick summary, and a direct link to the story.

  • Smart Logic: If there’s no new news, the bot stays quiet—no clutter!

:speech_balloon: Optimized for Chat & DMs

The Cajun ThREDs Sun Belt Scoreboard & Upcoming Events Banner were causing a critical layout conflict within the Discourse mobile app and mobile web browsers specifically during real-time communication. Because the banner was injected at the top of the viewport with a fixed height (72px) and forced visibility, it displaced the entire page container downward.

The Fix

  • Automatic Hiding: The moment you enter a Channel or a Direct Message (DM), the banners vanish.

  • Full-Screen Chat: This allows the chat window to expand to its full height, ensuring your text input box and the “Send” button aren’t cut off or pushed off the bottom of your screen.

  • Seamless Switching: As soon as you navigate back to the main forum topics, the banners pop back up to keep you updated on the scores & schedule.

Every month, ThREDsBot is going to deep-scan the stats. The Top 10 members with the most activity (Topics + Replies) will automatically be awarded the :trophy: Cajun ThREDs MVP badge on their profile.

:warning: The Catch (The “Reset”)

This isn’t a participation trophy you keep forever! This badge is like a Championship Belt.

  • On the 1st of every month, the board is wiped clean.

  • The old winners lose the badge, and the NEW Top 10 winners for the previous month take the crown.

  • If you want to keep that trophy on your profile, you’ve gotta stay active and keep the conversation geauxing!

The bot looks at your hustle over the last 30 days:

  • :building_construction: Starting new Topics (Gameday hype, recruiting news, etc.)

Made an update to the Scoreboard Banner:

  • Future-Proofed for Realignment: We all know Texas State is heading out and Louisiana Tech is joining the Sun Belt on July 1, 2026. We definitely didn’t want to break the current Spring baseball and softball seasons while TXST finishes out their run. My code now has a built-in calendar switch! I will keep tracking Texas State normally through the spring, and at the exact stroke of midnight on July 1st, I’ll automatically boot them and seamlessly welcome the LA Tech Bulldogs to the ticker.

Let me know if y’all spot any other gremlins in the system.
