I’ve implemented updated versions of the Sun Belt Conference Scoreboard and Events Calendar.
I’m going to work on a feature on the Events calendar next. I’ll be adding a link to purchase tickets for Events. The links for individual events follow a pattern on the Ragin Cajuns Paciolan website that should be easily replicated for future events. I should have that feature added in the next 24-48 hours.
Working on the Lafayette Memories Facebook Group posts coming into the Culture category. I’ve moved these posts to a new Lafayette Memories Category. Currently, that topic is muted from the “Latest” feed moving forward. This is primarily due to the number of posts coming through from Facebook. In the background, I’m working on a daily digest solution to bring all of this content to Cajun ThREDs in one thread once a day.
Working on bringing Ragin Review video content to Cajun ThREDs automatically.
Today, I finalized a rebuild of the Lafayette Memories posts that were pulled from Facebook and posted to Cajun ThREDs.
I created an automated system via RSS feed and Make.com that acts like a bridge: it monitors the Lafayette Memories Facebook group and, once every 24 hours, creates a “Lafayette Memories Daily Digest” topic on Cajun ThREDs. This new format will minimize the number of new posts created to once a day, reducing the “Latest” feed from becoming overwhelmed with Lafayette Memories posts.
New Feature: Automated Louisiana Athletics YouTube Video Round-Up
We have added an automation to the forum that keeps us up to date with the latest Louisiana Athletics YouTube content without spamming the board. Thanks to @RaisingCajun for the idea.
How it works: Instead of posting a new topic every single time a video is uploaded, our system now “watches” the Louisiana Athletics YouTube channel for us. When it finds new videos, it collects them all into a single list.
What you will see:
One Clean Post: You will see a single new topic titled “Video Round-up: [Date]”.
Everything in One Place: Inside that topic, all the new videos from that period are listed together.
Easy Viewing: Each video includes its title, a playable video window, and the description, so you don’t have to leave the forum to watch.
Feature Update to Sun Belt Scoreboard and Ragin’ Cajun Events Banners
Smart Scrolling Speed: The banners now automatically adjusts their speeds based on how many events and scores are listed. If there are a lot of events and scores, it slows down so they don’t fly by too fast. If there are only a few, it keeps a steady, readable pace.
Update to Sun Belt Scoreboard: Strict Conference Filtering
Fix for Softball & Baseball: I identified that the previous method of filtering softball and baseball games by team name was occasionally letting non-conference games slip through (e.g., teams with similar names).
Official Data Source: Updated the configuration to use ESPN’s official Sun Belt Conference ID (Group 27) for Baseball and Softball.
Result: The banner will now exclusively display matchups that are officially recognized by ESPN as involving a Sun Belt Conference team, eliminating “false positive” games from other conferences.
I’ve just pushed a major update to the site’s Sun Belt Scoreboard banner. Here is what has been improved:
Baseball & Softball Fixes: The missing scores for Ragin’ Cajuns baseball and softball have been fixed. The banner now grabs all NCAA games and manually filters them to ensure our games show up, even when ESPN forgets to label them correctly.
Cajuns First: No more scrolling to find us. Any game involving the Ragin’ Cajuns (in any sport) will now automatically jump to the front of the line.
Better Sorting: After the Cajuns games, the rest of the Sun Belt scores are now cleanly organized by sport:
Football
Men’s Basketball
Women’s Basketball
Baseball
Softball
Direct Links to Live Stats: Clicking on a baseball or softball score tile will now take you directly to the ESPN GameCast for that specific game, so you can follow the play-by-play instantly, that is if ESPN has that functionality available for the game.
No More “Random” Scores: I’ve tightened the filters to stop random teams from accidentally showing up on our banner.
Faster Updates: The scoreboard now refreshes every 30 seconds instead of every minute, so scores will be more up-to-the-minute.
Subject: New Automated Game Day & Series Threads are Live!
Hey everyone,
I’ve just rolled out a major automation update to ensure Cajun ThREDs is always ready for game day. We now have a custom-built system that handles our game discussion threads with much more precision and flair. Here is what’s new:
Automated Game Day Hubs: No more waiting for a thread to appear. Every morning at 3:00 AM, the system scans the master schedule and automatically launches a dedicated discussion hub for any game happening the next day.
Smart Series Grouping: To keep the boards clean during baseball and softball season, the system is now “series-aware.” Instead of three separate posts, it will create one unified Series Thread (e.g., Rice 2/16/2026 - 2/18/2026) so all the discussion stays in one place from the first pitch to the final out.
Clean & Concise Formatting: Every post has been polished for maximum readability:
Short Date Titles: Clean, numeric dates in titles for easier browsing.
Simplified Start Times: No more technical glitches—just clear, easy-to-read start times.
Full Schedule Details: Each thread includes the specific date, venue, and location for every game in that matchup.
The “Live” Experience: We’ve designed these threads to be your digital stadium. Every post now includes a Join the Conversation section with specific prompts for:
Keys to the game
Players to watch
Score predictions
Live reactions as the action happens!
Admin Transparency: For the mod team, every thread created is now logged in a private Post History archive, ensuring we never miss a matchup and can easily reference past discussions.
The system is officially live and ready to roll. Let’s make some noise in the threads!
To the members of the Cajun ThREDs community: we’ve just completed a major technical overhaul of ThREDsBot that changes how you interact with Ragin’ Cajuns sports on this forum.
Our goal is to make this community the most real-time, high-energy hub for UL fans. Here is a review of the work just completed and how it improves your experience:
1. Real-Time Chat Announcements
ThREDsBot is no longer just a forum user; it is now a fully integrated API-driven assistant.
The Impact: As soon as a game thread is created in the Sports category, ThREDsBot will now “shout” into the General chat channel with a direct link.
The Benefit: No more hunting for the latest thread. If it’s “Tigue Time” or a Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium, the link will be waiting for you in the chat the moment you log in.
2. The “Victory Signal” (Score Automation)
We have successfully hooked ThREDsBot into the ESPN API to monitor scores for Football, Men’s/Women’s Basketball, Baseball, and Softball.
The Impact: Starting at 12:00 PM every day, the bot begins its “watch.” Once a game is finalized, the bot will post a detailed box score directly into the chat.
The Benefit: If the Cajuns win, you’ll see the “ CAJUNS WIN! ” signal immediately. It brings the scoreboard banner experience right into your mobile chat flow.
3. Optimized Series Threading
The logic for creating threads has been refined to handle Series (like 3-game weekend baseball sets) intelligently.
The Impact: Instead of three separate threads cluttering your feed, ThREDsBot groups them into a single “Series Hub” with a full schedule for the weekend.
The Benefit: It keeps the conversation focused and makes it easier to track the progress of a series from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.
Why This Matters
We are leveraging the latest Discourse 2026 API features to ensure this forum stays faster and more interactive than traditional social media groups. By automating the “busy work,” we are leaving more room for what matters: your analysis, your predictions, and our shared passion for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
What’s Next?
As we continue to tune the bot, we want to hear from you.
Would you like to see “Player of the Game” polls automatically added to these threads? What other ideas do you have?
