JMU to the CFP

Or we could do the sensible thing and give every conference champion a spot in the playoff. However, that would introduce parity in the system and we can’t have that.

They will add some kind of schedule strength qualifier and the non-P4 will never be in again..

Book it.

The narrative is already out there, degenerates. The national media, P4 schools, fans, and ADs do not want G6 schools in their playoff. They feel it’s a wasted playoff spot. That’s all I’ve been hearing and seeing on social media, Notre Dame and Texas should be in, and JMU and Tulane should be out.

Mark my words. In the next 2 decades, maybe sooner than that, there will be a major split between P4 and G6 schools, and two separate playoffs will be formed. The writing is already on the wall.

Also, it should be the P3 now… the ACC is no longer a power conference, IMO.

The split talk is already happening on the baseball side. MLB cut down MILB teams to use college baseball as their minor leagues. Talk in the baseball circles is that within the next 5 years, the power schools will be the ā€œProā€ division leasing stadiums & logos from schools. The rest will be the ā€œAmateurā€ division with it’s own World Series.

More like in the next 5 years

The Haves, and the Have Nots. We’re used to it.

Id honestly just rather them do it now and get it over with. Screw the P4s

Maybe instead the major college football coaches, players and agents who hated the previous NCAA rules that at least gave more order than the current situation, should all just go form their own minor football league. Don’t want to play by the rules of actually passing classes, only having five years of eligibility, and not having to sit a season if you want to chase more dollars elsewhere? Then you should not need or want the affiliation to a university anyway.

Go form the Baton Rouge Bengals, Ann Arbor Coyotes, Austin Cattle, etc. and display your talents for the NFL that way, so you don’t have to worry about ā€œplaying schoolā€.

There is no fixing the current system. It all needs to be blown up and redone from scratch.

I’m more on board with 2 divisions now than I have in the past. With money the way it is, there is no comparing the big 10/sec and the rest. It sucks but there is no competing with them outside of the possible playoff appearance. Which will probably not happen in the future with what the powers that be do after 2 G5’s crashed their party.

This.

UL to Tulane (#1 G6 Team) is a relatively level playing field, in terms of talent and finances. UL to Indiana or Ohio State, isn’t even the same sport. I would argue its more equivalent to McNeese vs Tulane.

It took JMU going 12-1, and still needing outside help (Duke), for them to get into a playoff that virtually no one wants them to be in. So what are we really playing for any more?

But JMU vs Tulane for the G6 National Title, at a neutral site? Hell, or even JMU, Tulane, W. Michigan, & Boise State in a 4 team G6 playoff? I’m tuning in.

JMU vs Tulane for the NCAA National Title. All that needs to happen is for the NCAA to sponsor a 1A/FBS National Championship Playoff. The snobs will choose to opt for the CFP/NIT. Screw ā€˜em. Everybody else will be playing for the NCAA National Championship.

We shouldn’t ā€œleaveā€ them. Let them ā€œleaveā€ us.

Bowl games are useless now. We need an NCAA playoff.
