JMU to the American

With our new president, I do have restrained hope.

They are paying 5 million to SBC and 23 million entrance fee for a total of 28 million on the backs of their students to move to another G6 conference. That G6 conference has the same chance for that one spot to the CFP that is left now as the SBC. That is a lot of money to be spent to side step to a G6 conference when all that will be for nothing soon when the P2 with 40 schools total break off for their own playoff in 2030 leaving the rest of us in the G8 competing for our own playoff. I just don’t see a point in them doing it right now, but guess they think the investment somehow gets them to the ACC one day which will just be a G8 conference like the rest of us soon.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that the guaranteed spot in the playoffs for the G6 is not the highest ranked 6 conference champions anymore. It’s the highest ranked G6 period. Memphis, JMU, Boise etc can run the table in the regular season in their respective conferences and lose in the conference championship yet have a better shot at getting in over a 10-2 conference champion from the belt. When JMU leaves so does the “prestige”

I really think the SBC will need to expand to 18 to 20 teams to be the top G6 conference, so they will need to poach from other Conferences and work on getting a much better TV contract. If not we will need to see if we can move to C-USA or American.

C-USA is a for sure downgrade are we being serious

So it begins…SBC 2030 incoming…

.

Tarleton State/Arkansas State

Sam Houston State/USL

La Tech/NLU

.

Southern Miss/South Alabama

Jacksonville State/Troy

Kennesaw State/Georgia Southern

.

Gonna be freakin’ epic!

NLU? USL? Are we in 2026 or 1996?
Y’all need to chill out. We have a president that cares more about athletics than our previous one. Dr. K will figure out what’s best for the university if things in the SBC go south, and if that means jumping to another conference, I’m sure he’ll find ways to make that happen. Dr. Kolluru doesn’t seem like the complacent type like T-Joe was

Exactly.

right now it is a downgrade, but might be an upgrade when the new TV contracts come out.

All of this is in preparation of FSU, Miami, Clemson, and UNC bolting from the ACC depending on if their lobbying in Congress bears fruit, specifically removing conference size caps.

JMU has a real path to the ACC in that case. Marshall and App? No way. But that’s what’s fueling the fear of being left behind for Marshall and App administrations/fans.

Concur with the 18-20 membership model.

But that would mean adding a school or 2 (like Liberty) who has been deemed the wrong fit for the SBC in most recent additions.

Allowing CUSA to preempt that opportunity could be extremely detrimental to long term stability for SBC.

Lots of content these last couple days on what ifs/domino effects.

The East let us have latech. We will have to let them replace with whomever they choose.

Delaware would seem to be best option since Liberty won’t get the votes but their former interest in the SBC was due a lot to JMU being in the SBC.

Ohio was vocal last time around about their interest in the SBC. They’re an option.

Then, there is WKU and Missouri State. Beyond those, I don’t see a viable option for a single East add. This could be a situation where going to 16 might be the end result. In that case, I say take Delaware, Ohio and Missouri State, with Mo State in the West.
