#14 Acadiana fell to the #3 St. Augustine Purple Knights, 55-42, at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans last Friday night.
The Wreckin’ Rams took an early 14-0 lead, but after a St. Aug kick return, the Purple Knights were able to score 30 unanswered points to end the first half. Acadiana started the 2nd half with a successful onside kick, and fought back to tie the game at 42-42 early in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, that’s where the scoring would end for the Rams. Acadiana was unable to contain St. Aug RB Khalil Lewis, who scored 2 rushing TDs in the 4th quarter to put the game away. Lewis finished with 114 yards and two touchdowns on 19 attempts. The two teams combined for 884 yards of total offense and 32 first downs. St. Augustine will now host No. 11 seed and Catholic League foe Rummel in the DI select quarterfinals.
