5,000 True Fans?

I’ll leave movies that aren’t entertaining. I don’t finish books that don’t keep my attention. Life is too short for me to waste time not enjoying something.

I dont regret leaving and would do it again watching that shit show.

I am glad I was able to watch the end at home.

Agree on all points.

Most people will always leave after a fat man touchdown. I’ve quit worrying about attendance and people leaving. I stayed but I’m sure I looked like a pissed off old man until overtime. Lol

Much respect to everyone who stayed. I couldn’t. I almost left after first quarter. Bad football is miserable to watch.

I’m sure I looked like the pissed ole man speed walking out. Lol

I’m one that believes sports are made for radio. I’m one that always has a radio with me regardless of what stadium I’m in.

Best part of MLB subscription is ability to listen to radio broadcast synced with TV. As a Braves fan I just watched what is likely Charlie Morton’s last MLB game while listening to radio broadcast.

With that said, I can no longer listen to UL broadcasts. Glad I didn’t hear the comments yesterday. You are paid to call the game not try to force your opinions on us as fans. No, you are not always right regardless of what you think.

Little respect I had left was all lost with comments that were made last night. Time for a reset in that area of our athletics as well.

I would have a hard time arguing that ANYONE who showed up last night, regardless of when they left, is a poor fan.

On another note, while I appreciate the effort for the 7 pm game time, it does make it tough to stay with little kids. Why can’t we move it back to 6 pm? And now that it is not roasting on the east side of the stadium.

I’m appreciative of what John Moon was for us fans for decades, but he’s become a bitter, arrogant old man.

He could get on the air and address the fact to the fans that whether we like it or not, Dez was the hire and is the coach because of money issues, and I’d be good with that. Hey…let’s roll.

In regards to the leaving early, we’re not the only fanbase, especially considering the first four games, in the country where that would have happened. Not even close

For him to bash fans who raise legit concerns with zero context into the whole, what, and why is cheap shots.

Why does the mouthpiece of the admin always attack the fans that pay money and actually give a shit ?

And demand that the same group of fans pay more with less return.

I have to agree. These days our biggest support group is not affiliated with our school at all. They are independent and do more to help our school, brand and teams than them. Ragin review pushes our teams via promotion amd fun.

I dare any UL employee or associate to question them or us, the die hard supporters.

Time for Jay to be shown the door. Simple as that.

Last few years he’d team up with Jenny Marlin doing the same.

I went scorched earth on the postgame about JW’s comments.

Your first reaction as a broadcaster, after one of the best comeback wins in program history, is to lecture the fans about a game (and a media question) that happened 2 weeks ago? Let’s recap some of these quotes.

“There was a question that was asked to Mike on Monday after the Missouri game that was based on CRAP that they read on social media… “The question was HORSE POOP because it was based on garbage you read on social media” -JW

  • He’s talking about YOUR opinions, fans. Whether here on thREDs, on Facebook, on X, or on the RR postgame show comments… your overwhelming comments about poor effort in the Mizzou game are CRAP, and you clearly don’t know ball.

“To folks that are listening, for the rest of this season… don’t say it again. The case is closed, and the conversation is over.”

  • Oh, really? Cause here we are, once again having this conversation, because JW wanted to get on his soapbox and dump on loyal Cajun fans for having an opinion about what they saw in a game… TWO WEEKS AGO.

“'To do what they did tonight with all of the injuries they had, and to be down 17, don’t ever question whether this team is going to play hard. DON’T EVER QUESTION IT AGAIN!”

  • Cody Junot does a GREAT job after these final comments directing the conversation back to Lunch Winfield, WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ENTIRE TIME!!! The game completely changed AFTER Lunch was inserted into the game… Otherwise, we were headed towards the same old song and dance as the weeks before. This team rallied around Lunch, he was a massive breath of fresh air after what we saw through 3 quarters.
  • Also, side note… Don’t you think some of those injured players might have been the ones guilty of not giving effort two weeks ago? Don’t you think these young, healthy guys that played this week were hungry to take advantage of the opportunity, and play hard?

How does the Mizzou game, which was a complete blowout (with Beale at QB), and one of the ugliest college football games I’ve personally ever seen, correlate with last Saturday’s comeback win (with Lunch at QB)? Why can’t it be possible that both things are true? A few players on this team QUIT against Mizzou, there’s plenty game film to prove it. That doesn’t mean those same players will quit all season long, or won’t rally like they did this Saturday.

I’ll never call for anyone’s job, because people have lives, and they need to make an income. But I am calling for a public and formal apology from “The Voice”. You cannot COMPLETELY SH!T on your fanbase’s opinion, and a question raised by a Lafayette media member, and expect there not to be backlash. Your job description as a broadcaster for this university is to be the eyes of the fans on gameday, and bring games to life… not to lecture the people that have been loyally tuning in, and listening to you for decades. Do not take your position for granted.

To JW, your opinion is not the end all be all, even if you think you have the loudest voice in the room. Be better, GEAUX CAJUNS.

The last 10 or so years, JW has lost touch with the fan base in general. He still caters more to the older crowd that is unfortunately dwindling and seems to not understand the impact social media has in the sports world these days, specifically with the younger crowd.

We as fans need a place to take a good shit, and social media is our outhouse.

JW can take a seat.

JW “has lost touch with the fan base” implies that some point he had it to lose. That was never the case. He was always an apologist for the university, coaches, and administrators. He was always condescending. He always shut down callers with dissenting opinions. Nothing about JW has changed.

EDIT: this is supposed to be a reply to trULycajun’s first post, my bad!

Fans leaving during halftime has been an issue for years. It’s genuinely so baffling how many people choose to leave even though they paid to see us play. When I went to Cajuns games, my family and I rarely left early, but every single game would end with like 5 people in their seats.

Then again, I can understand why people left this game early. I turned the game off from the beginning of the 3rd quarter all the way until there was 40 seconds left in regulation. It looked we were gonna lose again. Thankfully, Lunch Time happened and it ended up being a great game, but none of us were expecting that initially.

But it’s not over until the clock hits 0:00. Most of my family left the 2011 NOLA Bowl against San Diego State because they thought we pretty much lost, and then we kicked a 50-yard field goal and won. The rest that left still regret it to this day. Thank god me and my dad stayed! But that and the Marshall game are why you should stay for a game you paid a lot of money to go see lol.

SDSU scored that TD right below our seats. We had a great day in NOLA. The crowd and the game were great. But my mind went right to Lucy and the football after Colin Lockett caught that pass. I wanted to leave, and my girlfriend (now wife) said “no.” She was right and I’m glad she did. She never lets me forget that when I want to leave games early.

Those who show up to games are paying customers. As much as I don’t like it, it’s their right to leave whenever they want even if it’s before halftime. Insulting these people only discourages them from coming back especially if they give an opinion that you may not like.
