2026 Baseball Schedule

Anyone know when our schedule will be published? I saw over the weekend on X that Tech released theirs. No games against them this year. Not even mid-week.

They will not say it but it looks like a business decision to me. Outside of LSU, the furthest they travel mid-week is Northwestern State. They also travel all the way to Monroe. Only 3 away mid-week games for them.

I have to wonder if we both refused to travel 3 hours for a mid-week?

OH well. Going forward in 2027 we will be playing them every year in a 3 game series. Going to be another great series adding to our already solid baseball conference.

Agreed. That is kind of where I was going with my post. 2 points:

  1. Tech is normally a good RPI game. They would help us more than they would hurt us. Would be better than other state schools that we would play.
  2. I have to wonder how much of the decision is based on travel expenses. Fairly obvious to me that they dont want to travel very far mid week. Has to be a financial decision.

So if point 2 is true. We know our financial struggles are getting more dire by the day. I think it will be interesting to see our mid week games and how far we are willing to travel.

McNeese, Nichols, Northwestern? I think we all would agree that games against Tech would be better for our RPI than any of those schools most years.

Amazing

“Schedule could change if gas prices go down”

Or…could higher oil prices bring more local economic gains and increase donations so that we can afford to travel more?

I would love to see some $75-80 per barrel oil but dont think that will happen.

2026 predictions are $50-$59 per barrel. Brent Crude is currently at $67 today.

OPEC talking about opening the taps a bit more.

Latest rounds of survey of investment banks showed them thinking early 2026 will have Brent in the low 60s and WTI in the high 50s.

Opening that tap would bring the price down.

In the Gulf, I have not heard any issues with getting permits in a while (last couple years at least). Oil Companies from what I have seen are just a lot more conservative with their investments.

Still will be interesting to see how our weekday baseball schedule will look.
