UL Makes their Budget Tough to Access

This is embarrassing.

During our work on these stories, we went to the university’s website to take a look at the budget, which was not available online. There’s a copy you can view in person in the library, and a free scanner to copy it, but we thought it would be easier for our viewers if the budget was available online.

The posting of budgets isn’t universal and all agencies that do it don’t use the same formats. But we did some checking and the University of Louisiana at Monroe has their budget online; you can see it here. LSU has parts of its budget online for this year and several past years; you can see that information here. Closer to home, LCG has its budget online and has done so for decades. You can see it here. The Lafayette Parish School System also has posted its entire budget online for years; you can see those here.

So ULM and LSU make viewing their budgets by the public easy and available online apparently, but UL forces you to go to Dupre Library.

We can’t help but continue to make ourselves look incompetent. It’s almost as if you have to start asking at this point if it’s all intentional. But why?

We deserve every bit of hate, criticism and ridicule that comes our way. So much for having integrity while leading the university.

If there is any speck of funny accounting people need to be sent to jail.

This supports my theory that someone from accounting is embezzling money and being sneaky about it.

Call me crazy but $25 million deficit with a record first time freshman enrollment there’s just no way

Enrollment numbers were BS been losing full time students since 2016. I still think money went where it wasn’t supposed to though.

Example 1 the company hired to clean the stadium were billing it 3 times a year to clean. Everyone knew they only came once a year. Only reason it threw up a red flag in the audit was because they billed the school during the new stadiums construction.

Holy crap.

You know that was just the tip of the iceberg. Yet, they jacked up Tailgate prices and ran out of water.

Agreed.

Martin Hall needs an enema. ALL of it.

I’m sure the brother-in-law deals ran rampant there

It’s actually a whole lot worse than that.

Again, I highly recommend that KATC reporter file a FOIA request via athletics AND through the foundation for P&L info, post and past budgets, and projected spending. If anyone knows the KATC reporter, please get them in touch with me.

Well…as they say: The pot thickens.

Government entities are not good stewards of your money. Some are simply better at covering it up than others.

When his term as president emeritus — and the $510,000 annual salary it carries — comes to an end on Dec. 31, Dr. Joseph Savoie will transition to UL Lafayette’s College of Education.

His new position as a full-time tenured faculty member starts in the fall of 2026, after a six-month paid sabbatical, according to an Aug. 14 letter between Savoie and UL System President and CEO Rick Gallot that spells out the terms of his ongoing work for the university.

Beginning Jan. 1 of next year, Savoie will be paid the average of the top three salaries within UL Lafayette’s College of Education.

More at UL’s Savoie to stay on with university after paid sabbatical

What a facking joke

Savoie needs to be gone period. All the carnage he is leaving behind is shameful

“How To Get Away with Embezzlement”

Alright … I quit.

This whole saga is one slap in the face after another, and it will end with my university in a financial hole it cant get out of, and the person who caused it (along with his cronies) riding off into the sunset on hefty pensions paid for by the people stupid enough to continue supporting this school.

Good ole boy politics at its finest, and the public (alumni, fans) will never learn what or how this happened because we’re not “entitled” to know. Just shut up and continue giving to the alumni association and RCAF.

Un facking believe able…. but not really

Really makes me want to give more money to the university for the premium experiences and betterment of the student athletes (and bloated salaries of people not doing shit)

Now everyone understands the hate and vitriol that people like me has been throwing at the pathetic crime syndicate called Blanco, authement, Pratt, and T Slow for years. Self indulged cajun mafia.

Have to wonder what his “job” will be within the Department of Education. Maybe I missed it but I do not expect he will be “earning” his salary. He does not deserve another penny from the University. I will leave it at that.
