Seems like we need to look at adding addition on-campus housing…

I personally think they could add student housing where the Old Lourdes Hospital use to be. Just part of it not the entire thing.
On campus housing needs to be near the athletic complex.
Certainly not the first time we’ve done this. When my kid was considering UL, one of the first things of concern for us was that incoming freshmen at least get priority to be housed in an on-campus form.
Texas State has evidently been doing this as well.
Tear down Blackham and put a multi use facility with a basketball arena and dorms/apartments
That land that Blackham is on was shown to be an expansion to student housing in the 2011 UL Master Plan.
That is still if the plans of a joint medical school are still on. If it finally gets killed, then yes, the property is owned by UL/ State. But bonds would have to be sold. I’m not sure there is the will in Baton Rouge to get that done. BTW, the university still owes some $300M last I heard in debt payments. Does anyone have a new update, or do we have to wait until the next audit is made publicly?
