Very odd for this thread to have crickets chirping.

Not odd. Sad to say but the whole message board is fairly quiet. Has been for a while now.

I read a post on Facebook by someone in the local media and they said this was being pinned on TW and wasn’t the whole story.

I saw that too. TW has supporters.

State of LA has a $577m budget surplus with $300m available for “state projects”

I hope the east side renovations start sooner rather than later.

Good luck with that. There would be outrage amongst vast majority of Louisiana voters, just before an election year, if the Legislature and Governor approved over half the supposed surplus being used for Cajun Field.

And who could blame them?

My concern is the east side renovation becomes a can that keeps getting kicked down the road. We’re left with a half-renovated stadium that looks ridiculous.

But Landry sells his soul for the lspoop misguided idiots. I totally agree state government should worry about governance rather than university support . However Landry is a complete political sell out and sold his soul to baton Rouge in more ways than one.

Lots of UL fans pulled the lever for him almost solely because somehow they were convinced that he was going to be a huge advocate for our university. Some even thought he was going to lead the charge to make The University of Louisiana and the legal flagship of the UofL System.

I tried to warn folks…

Your correct. Back stabbing cut throat

east side is only supposed to be $35 million

Jeff is doing exactly what a good ole boy LA politician does, puts his support behind items funded by the highest bidder.

Apologies. Misread above as we needed $300m.

The $35m could qualify, but no one should hold their breath. We all see how just the teacher pay raise thing is going.

Need me to go do some trolling in a certain thread? :joy:

The $35 million has already been budgeted by the state. However, which “priority” is sits right now is uncertain.

I do think east side will be done, we paid to rebuild a state owned property that was closed to being condemned with private money with the agreement that the state would fund the east side.

Is the east side supposed to start after 2026 football season? It would be motivating to see renderings of it. Will a new video board be added?
