RJ Young’s Annual Rankings

RJ Young’s Ultimate 136 CFB Rankings

If you’re short on time, he slots Louisiana at 81. We’re the third best Sun Belt team behind James Madison (#50) and South Alabama (#78)

Additional thoughts:

We’re much better than 2-10 Mississippi State (#58), and we took down Wake Forest (#77). Apparently we’re towards the bottom half of the country despite winning 10 games last season???

That’s a totally garbage ranking. We will be way better than that.

Lets finish Top 25 boys, i think this team can be better than last years.

Let’s beat Mizzou and revisit.

Garbage rankings . Who the F is RJ Young anyway?

Don’t take it personally y’all. RJ Young has had terrible rankings for a long time hahaha. I guarantee you we can prove him way wrong this year!

Wasn’t RJ high on the Cajuns last year?

This trend will only continue. Come 2030 Louisiana will be at the top of many important “past 10 years” type of lists.

I usually look at these kinds of rankings as some reporter measuring our Current Potential + Overall School/Program trajectory

JMU is clearly pointing up while it’s hard to argue that most of our teams are trending the wrong way

Would love to see football + basketball turn some heads, but if we lose another “almost good enough” game to Mizzou then it just drives another nail into the who-cares coffin

How is football not trending up? 10 wins last season and played for the SBC title. While dealing with QB injuries nearly all season.

We just beat P4/ ACC Wake Forest last season . I don’t agree with that “who cares” assessment if we don’t pull off the upset against Missouri, who has a $180 million athletic budget

It would be nice to knock off Eli Dipshitz’s smug ass though. He’s actually done a very good job of elevating that program in the time he has been there.

Beating a ranked SEC opponent on the road would be a top 3, if not top 1, win in school history. And gosh damnit I hate Drinkawitz pompous prick ass.

The Iowa State road win is still #1. They were ranked #10, we beat them by 17, and they went on to win the Fiesta Bowl vs Oregon.

Fair point. I still think people will try to put an asterisk because “iT wAs dA cOviD yEaRrRrRRr…”

Beating Mizzou on the road in a “regular” year (esp if we go on to the CFP) would be hard to debate.

Perception wise, especially down here, beating an SEC program carries way more clout.

They weren’t 10, they were 23 I think. Low enough that some naysayers would call it “barely in the top 25” (even though they did end the season much higher)

Speaking of beating SEC teams, we should have beaten Florida during the hud years. That game still haunts me.

Yeah we completely blew that game. Will never get over that one.
