Public or Private?

The plan is to announce thREDs “open to the public” tomorrow. I realize you can use the url to sign up for an account but the narrative has been limited release.

Question to the elders here: Would we be in favor of opening the forum to the entire public and not requiring users to sign up, like Pagin? Or should we keep it somewhat limited, require sign up and keep information within these web walls?

I can make a case for both but I’m curious about what y’all think.

I vote for requiring a login. If you cannot go through the trouble of signing up, then you are not serious about being a part of the forum.

I lean towards having people sign-up. They need to have their skin in the game.

Login required. No hiding in the shadows.

Can you specify login required for categories? Thinking out loud - if we can allow certain categories available for lurkers. Like Marsh?

Log in. I mean: Anyone can put their email and an username in. You don’t necessarily have to put your real name etc. which is good.

I’ll do some digging. That’s an interesting idea.

Login. No “guests”. At times during football season in game threads or more popular/controversial topics, there would be thousands of guests.

Im fine with guests having read only privelages, but Only members should be able to post.

This is the pagin model. Has it’s benefits and it’s consequences. I can see both sides.

This site needs to be different than RP.

Going LIVE at 9:00am. Hold the line, boys.
