I’d like to see us grow Cajun Threds by recruiting students to our forum. What are your thoughts? What categories could we add?
I could be wrong, but I feel like this forum is kind of like Blackboard—where teachers post assignments and offer feedback. When I was at UL, we used it for school.
Just throwing this out there, but this could be a new, hip spot for students to interact. Someone needs to go to the Yell Like Hell pep rally or the first home game, print out flyers, and get on social media to promote it as a space for younger fans!
i already feel like Ragin Review is the spot for younger fans to connect.
Ideally, we want a strong student presence around the board but the truth is, the message board isn’t really their jam. It takes long form typing, thought and attention. Lol
But seriously, I’d welcome the youngsters. How we do that? Short of posting nudes and giving away beer, I’m not sure.
Cajuns OnlyFans. Add a new category.
Keep the nudes to one of Gary’s 27 group chats please
I can’t speak for the average student, but I would think that most of us would bore the heck out of them. If you want student’s views, create another forum category with a moderator that is close to their demographic, and they can create subject matter. I think Reddit is closer to this generation in subject matter.
My thinking here was pretty simple. Ragin Review has become the voice of UL athletics and continues to push out content at a level that we haven’t seen with other media outlets. The truth is we need to engage students more to become a part of the UL athletics family. While this should be a function of marketing at UL, it hasn’t been a priority. I think we can come up with ideas here to attract students and share our passion for Ragin’ Cajun athletics.
How about free memberships to attract students?
Would they want to see my toes?
Different strokes for different folks. Everybody got their thing.
Someone said nudes and beer?
Shower beer?
Wild. I joined RP as a student back in the day and thought everyone was old then on there. Now some of them are actually passing away or in the nursing home. Now I am the old one posting.
I’m a student
In your opinion, what are some steps we can take to get more students here?
I think personally you have to give them something as an incentive to do it. maybe something like a giveaway, yk?
Like new tennis shoes?
Create a meetup event at The Bulldog where MAT buys each student who registers a beer.
Would have to be freebies and an incentive to keep coming. Weekly raffle for gift cards around campus (Jet/CCs/Olde Tyme) or a parking pass somewhere around campus. Then you get an entry for every day you log a visit to the site, second entry for first post of a day. Winner must DM their @louisiana.edu address for proof of student status.
Still, any student interaction is gonna be superficial that way. Needs to somehow be more organic than that. Maybe do some collabs with whoever the sportswriter is for The Verm? Could provide a good pulse check.
Agree, it needs to be organic. A student advisory board needs to be developed, and more work needs to be done. The DJ and Tennis shoe giveaway is a start. When we were winning, as a student I was there no matter what, outside of work. I never cared about freebies. But I’m a dinosaur. ![]()
