I believe UL has a SB camp coming up soon. Hopefully that means a coach will be hired.
Damn, J, I thought you were gonna say one was [finally] hired. I was getting all excited. lol
Will this thread go on until 12/31/25 which is our new established pitching coach deadline.
LOL. The RP one has been going on forever.
I listened to Dave Shultz’s interview of Kevin Foote just now and Foote states he has Contacted Coach Ali every week and its the same answer. We are getting close to a hire, but he states it has to do with financial constraints from a hiring freeze which should be resolved soon. Kevin Foote stated he hoped we would have a hire within the next two weeks before football season and there are viable candidates.
September will be SWEET!
I’ve mentioned this on RP and people weren’t happy. The two new coaches on the baseball staff are being funded by several donors through RCAF. They are not receiving salaries from UL athletics. Until school begins, there will be no new hires added unless funded through RCAF.
If people are upset with that, get out your wallets and help get them on campus now. Baseball supporters stepped up, no money from the University Athletic Department as this time.
From Maggard’s public comments, we are looking at cuts from $46M last year to $40M-$38M this year.
If they cut 6 mill + Maggard will an associate AD at an SEC school next year.
He knows what he is facing. He was offered the Missouri job after Billy Napier finished nationally ranked two straight seasons. He turned it down because he wanted to see the stadium project completed. But yes, if they go backwards many people will be done.
It appeared as though Dr. Maggard had a very good relationship with Dr. Savoie. It will be interesting to see what kind of relationship develops between Dr. Maggard and whomever becomes the new President of UL. That may have a lot to do with how much longer he decides to stay here now that the west side of the stadium is complete. Will he be here to finish the east side will be the question!
As per Friday night, the East side is still a go after the season. But I’m not a beating man, so I won’t be going to Vegas for that bet.
After this season?
If I recall from listening to Dr. Maggard’s interview on RR, he said some of the electrical and miscellaneous work could begin after this season. But the demolition and new construction would not begin until the end od the 2026 season. I assume that is still the timeline.
That’s exactly what he said. No demo work this offseason.
Thanks David, so electrical and plumbing are all out of state code. So, no on demolition but preliminary is to begin. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is changed, but it is what it is in the end.
This thread got side tracked. ![]()
Gives insight into what’s going on, though.
If we need a pitching coach, then if sounds like Softball backers need to come up with some money like Men’s Basketball and Baseball did.
Is there even any rumors on who will be the new Pitching Coach, a big name like Monica Abbott or someone that used to pitch for us like Ashley Brignac?
Monica makes a million per year, she isn’t coming to UL.
Isn’t Ashley Brignac working in the health care field?
Yes.
