Or it could be an unfavorable lease, which isnt out of the realm of possibilities.
This isn’t a good idea for the university. It’s almost as bad as the Nat Guard relocation plans.
I still want to know who in Martin Hall got a kickback for that deal.
I took the article as the Lafayette Tourism board wants to understand what the plans or for extra hotel housing because it will be needed in the area with this large of a facility.
We all know the perfect place to put up another hotel. Oh wait, that land currently has bull dozers on it.
I would like to understand what the parking plan is for Cajundome events once this building is built in prime parking area for the Cajundome.
Are the plans to put this thing in the area of the picture in the article? Like right on the corner of congress and cajundome blvd?
That is my understanding. I would think that it will take up a large portion of the parking lot between Cajundome & Cajun Field. Its a 170,000 square foot facility or so. I didnt take the time to try and figure out exactly how much of the parking lot it will take up.
Stupid. Why would you cramp the area between the Cajundome and Cajun Field?? That’s parking for Cajundome events and softball games. Maybe this can be done at the corner of Bertrand and Congress, but certainly not Cajundome BLVD and Congress.
Build it next to the Blackham (plenty of space) and move along. Use some of the funds to clean up around the Blackham while we’re at it.
There are so many other options. Blackham, Cajun Field Lot E, in front of Light Center, next to intermural fields, the list goes on and on.
This area is already reserved for all of those vehicles on gameday! hahaha
In front of Lite Center is the perfect spot for this. Next to intramural fields (Corner of St Landry & Coliseum Rd) would be another good spot but would need to expand Coliseum Rd with to handle traffic during events.
My main concern from day one with this project was what financial benefit does the university receive from the building of this facility. Is it some good old boy deal for prime property that we only get pennies from when all is said and done. There needs to be many more questions about this deal from the local media.
I say they need to build it next to the Lite Center, and if they want to build anything in between Cajunfield and Cajundome, while they are replacing the East Side, build a physical Hall of Fame building and a multi-level parking garage.
I think you know the answer to your own question, and absolutely NOT will the local media look into it.
It absolutely needs to be built on the corner of Bertrand and Congress instead of blocking premium parking
I think that is where the purpose built Soccer Stadium should be built.
The Soccer stadium should be build across from Lamson Park on the other side of Cajun Dome Blvd.
That’s a good spot also, I just know I would like to see it no track or track equipment around the pitch, and have permanent bench area with warm up area, and proper lighting and grounds.
I actually hope they build this stupid thing.. Twice the size of the football practice facility. Will completely block the view of the precious new stadium.
All for what will likely be a few bucks and a tax break
