We Hate Money

Using Cajun Field parking but only getting $1 a year on a lease. What the hell is happening :man_facepalming:

Need Ben Berthelot to explain and clear things up. From trying to put pieces together, this sports complex would come with a hotel (which is hopefully where UL would get some funds from).

Even if that’s the case, this proposed location makes no sense to me. We’re going to block sightlines for our new shiny stadium?

Sounds like an interesting topic for a RR episode.

We cant get a new President on seat fast enough. Hopefully paperwork has not been fully signed yet and he has enough balls to take on the Lafayette Politics head on.

The Blanco authement days still haunt us in every way. T Slow also. The sooner we exercise those demons the better.

Why yall being greedy? $1 per year will buy all the community support. We will have to turn away future customers and fans.

Do we get 50% of the gate and concessions?

Block views of Cajun Field & Cajundome. Take away parking from both. Why not put it by Lite Center which is a giant grass lot.

One comment that sticks out for me is that it was mentioned either by Ben or local media is the (paraphrase) “University will subsidize the sports complex/hotel”.

What exactly does this mean?
Is the $1 lease the subsidy?
Will the university be liable for other costs?
Will the university get any profits from the sports complex?

This center should never be built. It’s time that UL run itself like a business. We are not a charity.

We own the most desirable real estate in the city. It’s time to contact private equity groups and take proposals on building an entertainment, retail and student housing center around the athletic complex.

Then you’d have people complain that we have no more free parking lol

Why the fack would we agree to subsidize something like this? We’re already broke. We’ve been trashed in the media accused of ruining our budget to try to be good at football.

My point exactly. This whole thing makes less and less sense the more comes out. Maybe I’m misunderstanding the subsidy comment. But we need to fully understand what the university is getting out of a building built our athletic facilities land.

My opinion, this sports complex needs to generate money for the university of the city can go find somewhere else to put it.

I’m not super knowledgeable in the real estate/property realm.
What is the point in giving away land for $1 lease? Also IMO that is an awful place to put it

And have children cross a street?! Are you crazy, man?!

Will the $1 help keep Lunch?
