That may be true but itās also true that we watched him badly miss wide open passes, throw a terrible pick, stare down his intended target, and throw to basically one receiver all game. Lunch scored 5 TDs by spreading the ball around, extending plays, throwing better deep passes. He did this in basically 1 1/2 quarters of play. There is no way you can say WH is obviously better. I remind you that DB was also playing over Lunch.
Great to see Lunch perform and lead us going forward.
But, we gave up 51 points. Our defense is really suspect. Our D Line gets pushed around, our LB seem to be always out of position and DB are missing tackles.
Nobody mentioning it because we won, but the DCās decision to run back-to-back (maybe even one more -back) all-out blitzes in the 2nd OT was ridiculous
Salgado was a coach I was not worried about because he seemed to be able to adjust. The past 3 games have been concerning though.
EMU had a pedestrian game against CMU, but had nice overall stats. Missouri is good. Marshall has some good pieces.
I like that he pulled out some players and replaced them due to underperforming. Weāll see if that gets through to some of the guys we need to count on.
To be fair. The defense gave up 34 points in regulation. The offense gave up 7.
The offense really needs to stay on the field and manage the clock. We had 3-4 3 and outs that took about a minute each off the clock. Defense needs more rest than that.
That was a big part of napiers success here. Donāt turn the ball over and win the time of possession. Itās almost hard to lose when you do those 2 things.
Thatās how you claim your moment and step up. Lunch comes in down 17, back ups all around him with a quarter and a half left and just finds a way, thatās what winners do. Players should dream of coming in to bail out the team, and you saw that lunch was prepared and ready for that moment when others havenāt been in the past in much more favorable situations coming in as the back up. Donāt even think about playing anyone except him for JMU. Saturday was the first time Iāve enjoyed watching us on offense all year, and the excitement I havenāt felt since the offseason is finally back
