Gotcha, I thought that was the actual amount Zeon got to sit the bench. Good luck to all of them.
It is insane how the energy immediately changed from the Beale pick 6 in the 3rd Quarter to Lunch Time. No disrespect to Beale, but wow. Felt like two different games
I felt the exact same thing. I think sometimes coaches put to much on XOs, how well a kid practices, etc, etc. To many times we see that itās the intangibles that make the true difference.
Maybe Lunch does not know the playbook. Maybe coaches feel he does not give 100% at practice. Maybe his passes are not as accurate during drills. This is all speculation.
I do know one thing. When the lights were on, he showed heart. He performed at a high level. Most importantly, team rallied around him and played for him.
It was an individual QB performance we have not seen in a while. Lunch took over the game and the 3rd through like 7th receivers stepped up.
Lunch came in and played to get this team a win. He was limping along after getting dinged up but kept pushing forward. I saw a couple of plays where he was scrambling and was moving receivers to make a throw. Lunch showed leadership and he brings a no fear attitude that this offense needs.
Lunch is a gamerā¦. When the lights come on he performs
WE GOT US A QB
honorable mentionā- Logan Klotz punking the Marshall returner not once, but TWICE
Lunch singlehandedly came in and gave me hope for the remainder of the season.
With Lunch you add a few more wrinkles into the base offense and you are good. You donāt need all out option but adding more in only adds to what the defense has to prepare for.
Thisā¦and Zeon
If #2 is not our new #1 we have a bigger problem than any of us thought.
Look, letās not crown his ass just yet. JMU will have some tape on him and this will be his first career start. I want nothing more than Lunch Timeā¦but letās not get ahead of ourselves.
Ok Coach⦠You donāt think they have film on Daniel too?
So we donāt start lunch. We instead stick with Beale and have a sluggish start at the QB position AGAINā¦. On our way to the 4th loss. Lunch created a spark and had the entire team riding on his back. They perked up, pinned their ears back and played football.
In my opinion, it appears the team wanted Lunch under center this whole time. The sluggish play immediately stopped. Canāt dismiss that.
Absolutely not. You totally misread my post. Just saying letās not get ahead of ourselves here and crown Lunch as B Mitchell 2.0. Lunch is without a doubt QB1 and deservingly so. Letās just not put the weight of the world on him just yet as a fanbase.
If he plays like that the next 5-6 weeks and the team wins, he should easily be the favorite to start next year. He seems to want to be here so Iām not sure non-guaranteed offers could pry him away.
Chriss is the backup so he probably didnāt play.
I didnāt get to see the game, but letās pump the breaks a bit. He had a tremendous half and willed us to a W.
But letās not forget there is a QB who was clearly better going into the season and he got hurt. Had the WRās played better in game 1 we beat Rice, McNeese and EMU.
Lunch will have to continue to improve to carry this team because we still have major problems.
James Madison is our next opponent, and itās at their place. He plays well and leads us to an upset over there, then I think we could be looking at Lunch as our future.
But thatāll be a hell of a test vs them.
Letās also pump the brakes on saying that other QB was clearly better when he had a full three quarters where he didnāt look very good.
Other QBs may be ābetterā. Yes, Lunch has not played well prior to 2nd half on Saturday. Lots of factors with that in my opinion. 1st and most important, I think we can all agree that play calling for him prior to Saturday was poor at best.
I will say this again and I think most will agree. The way the team rallied around Lunch in the 2nd half was nothing like we have seen all year. For what I saw Saturday, its the intangibles that Lunch brought to the field on Saturday that he needs to be our starting QB for the foreseen future.
Iām certainly not ready to anoint him as the next Brian Mitchell or Levi Lewis and donāt expect him to have another performance like Saturday night every game. But he does add another much needed dimension to our offense that is desperately needed. Nothing against Beale, but at this point in time, we need a change.
