We’ve discussed the final cumulative stats for the 2025 season, and 6–7 isn’t where we wanted to finish. The numbers paint a pretty clear picture of exactly why we struggled and frankly we need to hit the transfer portal in 2026. You’re the Coach, let’s hear your picks for positions we need to recruit in the portal and your reasoning below.
OL and DL need to be top priority. LB and DB are the next 2 position groups that need help.

Retain Lunch and the running backs and Gordon Jr.
O Line and D line need to improve. Protect Lunch, allow for the run game to take over games. Then we need some sort of pass rush. Ranked in the 90s in sack totals this year.
Go the JUCO and FCS route.

Definitely try to fill the lines on both sides or the ball. Unfortunately I think literally every FBS team is looking for the same.
Zylan entering the portal and possibly bill and/or Blanco, rb is very much a need. We need WRs who can separate, Shelton is only one that had this ability.
We also need secondary because other than Gordon, we were not very good. We also lose our top two inside LBs so need bodies there.
I essentially listed every position because it truly showed this year how little talent we had on the field. Des really needs to hit transfer portal HARD, im talking 20-30 transfers to come compete.
Also would look to hit FCS and D2 established players that dominated vs taking chances on P4 castoffs.
Jaden Dugger was an established FCS guy and was one of our better defensive players. Get more like this

Jensen can be that guy IF they throw to him. He was targeted much more in this win streak and bowl game but they could still use his size in the seams creating some matchup problems. No way TE is a bigger need than RB at this point. Honestly, I’d love to go out and try to get a good QB as well. We pretty much need to win the portal lottery this year TBH
I like Jensen in the run game..and the occasional 8 yard catch. Other than that, Id like to find another option in portal if possible.
We need a Neal Johnson/TC jr type guy to compliment Jensen.

Find an OC from the FCS ranks that runs a system that fits our players. Power run game with a vertical passing game. Dump the RPO as well.
We don’t have enough slots left to fill everything we need out of the portal.
4 WR’s on par with Sampson.
3 or 4 interior DL than can get a push and eat up space to keep our LB’s clean.
3 or 4 OL preferably OT’s
3 RB’s let start with the kid from FSU

Once again, this is wrong. Desormeaux cost us 3-4 wins with his play calling and decision making.
We have the talent on the roster to win the SBC West. We have every year except his first year.
we have a 6 win coaching staff. It’s not a personnel problem.

We need a lot in the transfer portal for next season. The number one priority has to be getting some play making wide receivers on this team. Other than Shelton Sampson and then he had his issues to, we had no wide receivers who on a consistent basis made plays.
Caden was second behind Shelton Sampson in receptions. Caden proved he is a reliable pass catching tight end. What it does expose is our receivers struggle to get separation and it becomes the Sampson or dump it off to Caden show. That leads me to believe we have an issue with coaching WR’s.
I agree we have coaching issues, however we are lacking talent and it showed this season. DL is a major area of concern for me. We simply don’t get enough pressure on QB’s and often we got pushed around. That isn’t a recipe for winning football.

It looks like it could be a personnel problem next year
Macintrush and Gawlik are true pass catching TEs. Extremely talented dudes. They should get plenty of reps next year. Add them to the versatility of Caden and Brock, and we’ll have one of the best TE rooms we’ve ever had here.
We need OL and DL personnel. In particular, a NT and a Left Tackle. We need a true Mic LB. We need a physical possession WR. We need open tryouts at every position on special teams.

They are never the sexy guys, but OL & DL should always be the #1 priority when recruiting. Games are more often than not, won and lost at the line of scrimmage.

We need help everywhere. Many of you make strong arguments for each position group, but at the end of the day, all positions need a facelift.
With that said, OL and DL is where I would personally start, because good linemen and controlling the line are both CRUCIAL at this level of play.
