You nail it in the fact that this roster needs a complete overhaul. I think it is less to do with talent than the fact that we need better attitudes. We need some dogs and I just don’t see it. We had a bunch of former walk ons step up big this year and they showed they had it but a lot of the players we needed to have it, didn’t.
This.
Grabbing cast off P4s hasn’t worked out very well for us overall, John Stephens, Jr from TCU being an exception.
I’d wager more times than not, the P4s transfers to lower levels are transferring down from their high school recruitment status because of lack of work ethic. At this point, give me a pissed off, overlooked guy from an FCS program who had a successful season and is looking to land somewhere in the FBS to prove himself.
Can we run a consistent, effective vertical passing game with Lunch?
Yes. But there’s a caveat… There has to also be an equally successful run game.
The question is if Lunch stays. 2026 hinges on his decision.
Where’s he going to go? Another G6 team not named Tulane, North TX. Boise or JMU?
I can’t see a P4 or a top tier G6 thinking they need to buy him from us at this point, unless they think he can play RB or slot receiver for them.
Lunch will be here next year. Now if his passing progresses and shows to be much more consistent next season, then we may be looking at him portalling out.
He’s better than Chriss was and he got poached. ![]()
Chriss had better tools.
That’s the problem. Looking too much at tools and not who is a good football player.
In the box players is what we need. OL/DL/LB are the positions that make us more successful than our peers. We will always have good RB/DB’s because Louisiana is loaded with talent.
There’s a credible source for RR that has told us that there is a P4 school that has a NIL offer on the table for him currently.
Now, he seems to love it here and the job is his, if he stays. But with some of his friends/teammates/weapons hopping in the portal, that might also persuade him to follow suit.
I was also about to say lunch has a 6 figure offer from an SEC school
That school just retained their QB, which was not expected. I wonder how that impacts the offer.

Which is absolutely crazy because he isn’t an SEC level QB.
Exactly.
I honestly don’t know how the fack I missed that yesterday
NO way he stays if he has said 6 figure offer, but he has to know the job is his for next year here at Louisiana and he potentially could have an even higher offer his senior year from somewhere as his passing stats are not exactly the best right now. The Dual threat option is what makes him very good.
Also I guess Tampering is totally legal now and no one will ever enforce the no tampering rules during a season and before the portal dates.
A six figure deal to be on the roster, but in reality giving up a starting position for a seat on the bench. I also question the number of six figure deals being handed out. How many of them are structured in such a way that the likelihood of getting those six figures is next to impossible.
You must be talking about S. Carolina
