It was a satirical thing, but what made it funny is that it is a real possibility if college athletics continues on the same trajectory. Specifically, for non-SEC/BigTen (and some programs in ACC/B12), we are talking about more expenses, less revenue from TV/tickets/etc.
It would not surprise me if programs fold in the next decade or two.
