I’m not trying to be a “know your place” person; but we need to spend smartly to compete and win at the G5/6 level. If a P4 school wants one of our players enough to pay big bucks…so be it. At some point the player needs to decide what is best for them. If it’s money, so be it. I’m at the point where I’ll just say thanks for being a Cajun and best of luck. It’s not personal.
Tough job ahead for pretty much all of the G6 programs. I’ll be thankful and cheer on those who want to be here.

Start playing three money games a year and divert those dollars to baseball. Try to compete there.
Same thing will happen in baseball. Look at what happened with softball and that was by far our most consistent program. Unfortunately, it’s going to likely to stay that way until and unless the NCAA puts its foot down and makes major changes.

Money games are going away as well.
The big rich schools will break away and say F you to the worthless ncaa. They will self govern but thier model is based on endless money streams . That will diminish.

Some of these kids might be disappointed when they find out thier market value is less than they think . Hope Dez does not take any back.

I disagree, some of these student/athletes have to test the market, and if they don’t like the amount they are offered, they should be able to come back to the team and be a cautionary tale to the team.

I agree with what others have said here or in other threads that our ideal portal player is a guy who succeeded at the FCS level and is looking to move up. One thing I will say in our coach’s defense is that it’s not quite the same as the P4s poaching our guys because not every FCS success story is a potential target for our coaches. Only those that enter the portal. These P4s are poaching and making offers to kids halfway through a season, so every single player at the FCS and G6 level is an option for them.
Some people see it as throwing in the towel, but I would be very happy to see a G6 championship. No part of my Cajun fandom is tied to us being able to compete with the Ohio States or Alabamas of the world.

Unless CFB sees some rule changes, competing in a G6 playoff and having your coaching staff and players poached during the playoffs will suck just as bad.
There’s a lot to fix, and not a lot of will to fix it. I’m seeing more complaining about G5 teams making the 12 team playoff than an SEC program getting poached during their playoff run.

I think the fix for this is like the nfl, zero contact rule until a coaches season is over. Plus move portal to after spring, and get rid of early signing period.

Carter Milliron in the portal. Once we signed the 5 start long snapper out of Parkview Baptist, the writing was on the wall.
I can’t think of anything that I have found more ridiculous in this transfer portal era, than a deep snapper writing out a letter saying he is entering portal. lol
