Season ticket push

They are trying to get above water right now. Dr Savoie screwed us the last decade secretly. We are going to get there.

Having 1 person in the ticket office is an excuse. Its a challenge, yes. Whoever that person is should be focused on one thing right now. Football season tickets.

Issue is more with poor leadership.

They haven’t pushed ticket sales since the hud days. I’m not giving them the benefit of the doubt due to lack of staff. They haven’t cared to sell tickets since 2018

Season tickets are not a good deal for most people. Young families have way too much going on on weekends during football season to go to enough games to actually get your money’s worth out of them.

For my family of four its $440 for thr cheapest season tickets.. If GA tickets are $25 each, then we would have to make 5 games to actually see that as a “deal”. Hell would freeze over before we have five free Saturdays during that time of year.

The bigger issue is the complete lack of effort to sell season tickets to businesses, who would historically give them out to employees.

Biggest issue is the constant alienation of the fans. The model of give me more of your money and just shut up does not work in most places, especially Acadiana.

You can get them cheaper than $25 even on re sale sometimes.

I don’t understand why they aren’t going to area School Boards and giving out at least 1000 tickets for each SB and give them out for awards to students every 6/9 week periods, they could even do it year round with certificates for when the SB get’s the next season tickets they are given to the student. The student would want to go to the game and the parents would then have to purchase tickets to the game and then spend money at the game on concessions. There is many different things that they used to do that they could do again.

You are thinking way to logical. There is enough empty space in the stadium to give tickets to students and sell special GA tickets to a selective “Elementary School Section”.

As I said before, Maggard has no clue how to effectively market our program. It is way beyond time for a change in leadership.

I love this idea. When I lived in Lafayette as a kid, I remember the library giving me and my family free Cane Cutters and Ice Gators tickets, as a reward for participating in some sort of reading challenge. Obviously, those are semi-pro teams, but if our Athletic Department wants more young fans and better attendance at Cajun Field, like we do, they should consider working with school boards and local libraries. I personally like the idea of giving out tickets to kids who read x amount of books at the library or get x amount of good grades at local schools. Right now, they’re doing an absolutely terrible job of advertising to literally anybody. No wonder our fanbase is so apathetic these days!

Honestly this is all a “this too shall pass”. We’re not always going to have a skeleton crew behind ticket sales. It’s just a season…

This is what they thought in Martin Hall..

Then between the price hikes and Covid, people who would have NEVER thought about giving up their tickets or tailgate spots decided to let them go… and realized their lives didnt change all that much.

UL was like Chris Farley on the side of that mountain hanging on to a tiny tree sapling called tradition, and the tree finally broke

That was my issue with basketball tickets last season. Very difficult to attend most games

The renewal date was before the schedule was released and they decided to have all morning and noon games with no Saturday night games . No bueno. That will likely be the reason I don’t renew this season

We did not strike when the IRON was hot after 2020 and 2021 seasons. That is on the athletic administration. Botched the coaching hire and getting more people to the stands and have them realize we were a top 25 Football program so get on board we are serious about football! Nope instead just promoted the coach that Billy left behind and kept doing the same we can’t do that stance.

True. I think they didn’t really want what we had, they were content to let it slide. They didn’t do anything to capitalize on the success Billy gave us. They don’t know what they are doing. Simple as that.

It is a lot of work to maintain that level of success of a top 25 football program, guess it was too much for this administration and it was not worth the extra work. Sad.

You must be new here.

Sorry, the 1 person in the ticket office doesnt fly. Not because I think one person can do the job, but because they do a shitty job when they are fully staffed.

It’s also a lot of work to have to facilitate an attendance of 30k+ each home game. Martin Hall had their fill after the SBC Champ game in 2021 and said “Hell no we don’t want to work this hard six Saturdays in the Fall”.

Makes you wonder why they even bothered with the stadium remodeling if they’re going to be serious about being competitive and attracting people to watch.

Gonna be a skeleton crew attending football games too.
