Opening Day Lineup Projections

Need a little something to get us to Friday. I know the guys at RR gave their projections, but what does everyone think the opening-day lineup looks like? I’ll give mine:
Mandino DH

Markle 3B

Lasalle RF

Amedee 1B

Hernandez 2B

Bellard LF

Brown C

Rodriguez SS

Lewis CF

I like it. I’ll bet this is pretty close.

Mandino-CF

Rodriquez-SS

Hebert-LF

Lasalle-RF

Amedee-1B

Markle-3B

Hernandez-2B

Spalitta-DH/Bellard DH

Brown-C

I went back and forth with Bellard and Hebert in LF. I think that’s the biggest unknown at this point.

Anyone here go to the scrimmage Saturday? How did they look?

I would love to know too

Deggs said in his presser today you can pencil spalitta into the middle of the order. Also lasalle is day to day after being hit by a pitch and he said Ballard would take his place. So more than likely Hebert in left

What’s the word on Dobson and Collins?

If LaSalle is healthy:

Mandino - CF

Markle - 3B

Spalitta - DH

LaSalle - RF

Amedee - 1B

Brown - C

Hebert - LF

Rodriguez - SS

Hernandez - 2B

If Lasalle isn’t healthy:

Mandino - CF

Markle - 3B

Spalitta - DH

Brown - C

Amedee - 1B

Bellard - RF

Hebert - LF

Rodriguez - SS

Hernandez - 2B

So what happened to Galt is he not in the mix for SS this year. Felt he did good last year as a freshman. Is Rodriguez a upgrade as a freshman?

Since people were asking about the scrimmage on Saturday…..I was there for first four innings or so. My thoughts, not that they matter….

  • Brown had great at bats and arm is legit.
  • Spalitta catching was unimpressive but he mashed at the plate. Hit a bomb.
  • Lineup might take a while to click (as always we can still small-ball with the best of ‘em)
  • Pitching staff did not give up a lot of loud contact from my POV (there was some, but not consistently) — ball stayed on the infield a good bit.
  • We are gonna run if we are on base (Markle stole home)
  • RE: Dobson - nice sac bunt
  • RE: Collins - still fast

Taking another shot at this after listening to Deggs yesterday

Mandino CF

Markle 3B

Amedee 1B

Spalitta DH

Brown C

Hernandez 2B

Bellard RF

Hebert LF

Rodriguez SS

Stayed the whole scrimmage and I’d echo pretty much all these points. I expect Markle to be a big leader at the plate on this team. Colt Brown has some serious potential behind the dish and I’d expect him to start 2/3 this weekend at least. Spalitta crushed it in the derby and an easy bomb in the scrimmage. Garrett Carter was touching 95 consistently starting for the gray team. Tollett is the stud on this staff

Felt like a lot of the back end pitching did a poor job of holding runners and guys basically could take bases at a light jog with the leads they got. The front end guys we saw were all solid on the mound but towards the end it was sloppy. I dont take too much out of it situationally.

Unfortunate the wild pitch caught Lasalle on the wrist, especially so late in the scrimmage.
