I am very worried about this signing class. I am sure there may be a few gems but a lot of these guys do not even have a 247 or on3 recruiting profile or show 1 or 0 offers. Has our recruiting taken this big of a hit? I thought Des was a stud at recruiting, it really does not look to be the case.
Also we des strategy of not wanting to hit transfer portal hard, I am not very optimist about our future.
As of now, we are ranked 83rd overall in recruiting according to rivals. Which is ahead of Troy, south al, Georgia southern, JMU, App State, USM, ULM, LA Tech,
We were 83rd last year on on3. We are 120th on on3 this year and 117 on 247
You may question some of Des’ play calling, but its hard to question his recruiting. he is a relentless recruiter in this complicated era.
People give those sites too much credit. Those same sites will rate a kid as a 4 star then immediately drop that same kid to a 3 star if they don’t commit to a P4 school. Some of our highest rated recruits out of high school barely see the field. At the same time some of those 0 & 1 star guys become great players.
Just need to pick up some studs in the Transfer portal
A great example is Cole Bergeron with STM. Highly overrated QB.
i agree we need some transfer older classman DT’s.
Class looks to be shaping up nicely.
That is the flaw of all these recruiting sites. They place a lot of emphasis on potential. Cole has the size and the arm of a P4 QB. Can he be developed and will he be in the right system is the question to ask your Magic 8 Ball. ![]()
He will end up at LaTurd and torch us.
Everyone I know who has coached against him thinks he’s FCs talent.
Couldnt have said it any better.
Tech hasnt even offered him.
Overrated like our present qb from there. Sorry it had to be said
Which is why i never pay attention to “Class Rankings”
The North Texas QB never started a varsity game in high school and walked on at UNT. He leads the FBS in passing as RS Freshman. Recruiting ranking sites are mostly crap designed to make money.

That can be misleading. Who was the starter for his HS?
QB Miles Teodecki who signed with Kansas State, Texas 6A D2 MVP.
When your school has 2500 plus students there’s a good chance you might have more than 22 great football players on a roster.
