Somewhere along the way, Louisiana Tech apparently decided that beating Louisiana on the football field wasn’t enough. They needed to win the battle of the public address system, too.
Saturday night’s 32-31 victory over the Ragin’ Cajuns in Ruston should have been a celebration for the Bulldogs. And to be fair, they earned that celebration. Tech overcame a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit, scored the winning touchdown with 46 seconds remaining, and sent the Cajuns home with a frustrating loss in a game Louisiana had every opportunity to put away.
We’re not their little brother in all the other sports. But even if we had won the game, they’d still ULL us until the cows come home because that’s who they are. Same with ULM and that record is dominant on our end

I read somewhere from one of tech’s radio guys that the reason they were saying all that crap about being the “crown jewel” and ULL-ing us is because they know it ruffles our feathers. Hell, southern Miss fans and other schools in the SBC ULL us sometimes because they know it bothers us even know they damn well know we’re Louisiana.
Next time we play them, maybe we just ignore any ULL attempts from their fans because honestly some of them don’t understand and probably never will. Like, we can still talk crap about them on here but try not to show your disdain on social media because it’s showing that they’re right and that it does bother us and they don’t need to know that!
And if we do ignore them, they’re most likely going to tone it down with the ULL stuff.
Idk just something I’m willing to try. I’ve been doing a bad job not ignoring them so I’ll start doing that.
Winning helps too. App state fans used to call us ULLLLL for every time they beat us and once we started winning a few games against them, they stopped.
Yea, I wish our fanbase would just ignore it. The major broadcasts and ESPN all refer to us as Louisiana. If our fanbase didn’t react to the trolling, it would be over. Just simply refer to them as classless and move on. The rise they’re getting out of some of the fans justifies and fuels their continued trolling.
Is this really a we thing or is it just a @geauxnick thing? I love anyone who goes to bat for UL, but he never misses an opportunity to get into a pissing match with the instate fanbases. To the point where I’m not sure if there is any benefit for UL or if it just drives engagement for RR or is personal entertainment for him. I mean I get Schultz posting his little “is it UL or ULL” thing. He’s got no stake in the game and he gets engagement, but why from an outlet like RR? We won that battle. The only people who won’t recognize it are the instate schools and it’s mainly done just to get a rise out of people. If Tech and LSU fans did it in the comment sections when we’ve had coaches die, they are certainly going to do it when we play them. Their PA guy did the same when we played them in Ruston in 2015. The only difference between then and now was we had a real shot to shut them up this game. Des should be strapped down and forced to watch the last 8 minutes of that game A Clockwork Orange style. There is no big brother/little brother when it comes to LA Tech/UL. We are talking about a program living on its PAST football and women’s basketball successes. They have never made a super regional in baseball or softball. They haven’t been to the NCAA Tournament in MBB in my lifetime. Why complain when they call us Lafayette or U La La? Beat them and call them anything and everything off this list of names they don’t want to be called. Neither school is hotshit. The difference is Tech acts like they are, and that swagger has gotten them through.
I’m still angry we couldn’t get it done on Saturday. After all this time I thought our program has improved since 2015 (or at least that’s what I thought). Just gotta beat them at everything else. Shout out to volleyball for understanding the assignment. Basketball up next. Then baseball/softball, and then it will be just a couple more months until we have another chance at football
Trying to be “influencers” like Schultz. Granted, obviously pro-UL, but still…pissing matches = engagement = clicks.
Can’t blame him/them for trying to increase some exposure and possibly revenue, but from an outsider fan looking in, it does seem to draw unnecessary negative attention as well.
I’m to the point now where I can care less what a team calls us. I was for the UL / Louisiana branding years ago. When we finally start seeing results, the University decides to release a “vintage” USL collection of merchandise. That was it for me. From that point on, it is what it is.
Tech 100% does this just to troll us. They have earned the right to do so on the field. From the quick Google / Gemini search, this is what comes back on our record vs Tech over the last 10 years.
Midweek results for baseball and softball don’t tell you much about the quality of the 2 programs. That record for basketball is f’ing disgraceful, especially considering Tech hasn’t even been to the Dance since 91.
The results would with LSU would tell us the programs are on even footing. That’s clearly not the case. Midweek absolutely matters for baseball when you aren’t using your best arms. Regardless in their most successful run in program history they hold a 2 game edge over us and still haven’t made it past a Regional.
Women’s basketball is their most successful program.
I’m not trying to argue that we are on the same level as LSU. Look at the title of this thread. This is about Tech thinking they are better than us.
I think we all can agree that we should be on a level playing field with Tech. In fact, that should be easy to agree upon now that they are in our conference.
What I’m saying is that we have a lot of work to do on the field. We have not done a damn thing to separate ourselves from them in the past 10 years in head to head competition.
New start now that we are in the same conference. We had our chance this past Saturday and we sh*t the bed again.
when techsters start snarking I just tell them I hope their hoods are as tall as their cotton and that usually shuts them up. Either they are to dumb to understand or know its the truth and won’t reply because those robes and hoods are big in north Louisiana
