Holy crap. I hadn’t been paying attention, so didn’t realize UL facking M won the Sun Belt this year in softball. While we finished 8th.
Damn this program has just imploded in such a short time, looking way up at Monroe.
Beat them today and win the tournament and we back.

Do they have a bunch more NIL money than we do? I THINK I know the answer, but maybe my ASSumption is wrong?
I hate losing, especially to ULM. They did however win the regular season conference title and probably have one of their best teams ever. It wasn’t like we lost to the last place team in the conference. We do need to do better and bring in more talent.
We have a problem with softball. We went from making the postseason every year for over two decades to making a second straight early exit out of the conference tournament. Today’s loss was embarrassing. I’m not sugar coating it. We lost to a team that is more broke than us.
With the rich history we have, what we saw this season is unacceptable. Finishing in 8th place in conference is unacceptable. Going 0-4 against ULM in a season is unacceptable. Remember: From 2007 to 2024, ULM beat us a grand total of 2 times. TWO TIMES IN 17 YEARS. They doubled that total in a span of 40 days just this season.
I like Ally and hope she gets it done. But if we experience this next season, changes need to be made. I can understand having some trouble competing nationally when it comes to resources and with the way that college sports has changed. But 0-4 against ULM and finishing in 8th place in conference? Nah. Unacceptable.
The thing is, we CAN compete. We had two ranked wins this season. We had a promising start, save for a few losses to teams we shouldn’t have. But for some reason, we had the most trouble with our conference mates. We couldn’t win on the road for some reason, we had to move players around defensively. Haley Hart is supposed to be an outfielder. She wasn’t used to playing at 2B. Hopefully they assess everything in the offseason. What worked, what didn’t. I’m still pulling for coach Ali but we need to figure out these things so it doesn’t happen again. Maybe since we don’t have to hire two coaches this year, she can focus extra hard on the portal
Hart came into the program as an infielder. Her playing outfield early in the season was out of necessity to keep her bat in the lineup.
