Does anyone have a run down on rice? I know they were once a power but have fallen off over last few years

All I know is David Pierce is the coach now. That alone probably counts for a few extra wins than they were averaging recently.

Dont have a rundown of Rice but poked around on their website at record and stats from this weekend.

They went 2-1 vs Northwestern. Won the Friday and Saturday games by 1 run each game. Got blown out on Sunday.

They were led offensively by 2B JC Davis. .636 BA with 3 HR and 4 RBI. 0 Ks. As a team, they hit 6 HRs. Only struck out 8 times. 6 BB and 2 HBP. Looks like they make you earn every out.

Northwestern hit .316 with 9 HRs. 5 of those HRs came on Sunday when they score 17 runs. Hope the Sunday game is a sign that they are thin on the pitching side.

I expect Sawyer Pruitt to get the start for us. Not sure how long Deggs will let him go.

Just searched ESPN+ and it isn’t showing a broadcast.

No ESPN+. I’m guessing Rice has the same struggles as us with production capacity.

Nice comeback outing for Papenbrock. Brasch used as he should be. Closed out the game by striking out the side.

Pruitt set the tempo to start the game.

Still early but pieces are coming together quick.

Would be a huge help if we can keep the double digit strikeout games to a minimum. I know that’s a “No shit, Sherlock” statement, but seems we’ve struggled with that at the plate in recent years.
