Favorite Cajuns Sports Memory?

The 2011 New Orleans Bowl. I bought tickets even though I was a nearly broke college student because I thought it might not happen again. I think it was my first time in the Superdome, the crowd was hype, and I almost went hoarse. Also, I was sitting behind the endzone of the winning kick.

Second would be the basketball team playing against UCF and Michael Jordan’s sons in the Dome. If I’m not mistaken, we won that game in the last seconds. I also got to see Elfrid Payton cross over Marcus Jordan and throw down a tomahawk. I was also a fan of Marcus though and got to see him hit a last second shot at the end of the first half.

That UCF game wasn’t necessarily a favorite memory, but one I actually forgot about. Glad you brought it up. I remember being there and the novelty of hosting a Jordan. Hadn’t thought about it probably since the actual game.

One of the highlights was the “He’s no Jordan” chants from the student section whenever Jeff and Marcus were on the court.

2011 NOLA Bowl is an all timer but my personal favorite I think was the 2014 Basketball run in SBC Tournament Championship game in OT and going to the tournament. I was in the Ragin Brass that season and that was one of the few moments I have cried out of pure joy when we beat Georgia State. Then going and playing in San Antonio in front of a national audience being a part of/participating in my favorite sporting event of the year was something in will cherish for the rest of my life.

Also got trashed at both the 2011 NOLA Bowl (all 4 NOLA Bowls and basketball SBC tournament trips) and the NCAA tournament trip all on the university’s dime also helped. lol
