What happened to Curley Reed (CB)? Figured he’d be high on the chart

Great question. Anyone heard anything about him?

Jaden Dugger at 6’5 250 is a huge MLB

interesting position switch from edge player .

Was athletic enough to be a free safety at Georgetown so should be a nice LB

I’m surprised to not see Curly Reed here. I also think it’s interesting that Zylan isn’t THE returner for kicks and punts. That makes me think he’ll be leaned on heavily in the run game.

Think they’re trying to preserve Zylan and protect his health

That…and if I remember correctly, Robert Williams had some really good returns when Perry was dinged up. In fact, he seemed to be a bit more patient in waiting for the blocks to set up.

Williams averaged 28.6 yards per return on 13 kickoff returns last season.

Perry averaged 24.9 per on 17 returns.

As Coach Salgado today about his position change at the QB Luncheon. They feel his athletic ability and height will cause opposing QB’s problems trying to throw crossing and dump routes over him. They want him running down hill in this defense. My concern with him a the MIKE position is not his speed but his leverage and ability to get off blocks. He’s not playing outside the box, he is right in the middle. But we will see how it goes because Rice runs the Triple Option.

I do remember when he transferred in the staff saying that he could possibly move to the LB spot. Unless they were not referring to the MIKE LB, this was always a possibility.

Yes, they did say it was possible. But he played mostly outside leverage last year and chasing from an OLB position from the Nickel. That is not the same has taking on OL in the hole, that is entirely different position. I’m not say he can’t but we we find out fast Saturday night if he can.

I love seeing Terrence Williams at the WILL. That kid has waited his turn, changed positions, and has done nothing but work. Coach Scott Stoker last year said he was probably the most natural LB on the team, just hadn’t learned all the ins and outs yet. Excited for him to finally get his opportunity.

Our depth at LB is a hidden strength of this defense.

I’m thinking Terrence Williams will have a very good season and be an impact on our defense.

Ok…was he previously a WR or RB?

Played RB from ā€˜21-’23. Was obviously behind some pretty good backs. Made the switch to LB last season.

Talent is there, but we shall see. Coach Salgado spoke about the need for better play in the Rezone. This has been the focus this fall. Rice runs the Triple Option like Kennesaw St. UL will not stunt a lot according to Coach Salgado, should be interesting to see how we play early on.

Kennesaw State was a bit scary at first. Ran the ball right at us in the opening drive and scored. It was a ā€œhere we goā€ moment.

From there on out, they had a bad time. Hope to see our defense cause Rice to struggle just as much.
