James Madison Favored in Sun Belt Showdown Against Louisiana

HARRISONBURG, Va. - In a key Sun Belt Conference matchup, the James Madison University Dukes are predicted to defeat the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in their game on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The Dukes, playing at home, enter the contest with a significant statistical advantage and a stronger record in the current season.

As of early October, James Madison boasts an impressive 4-1 overall record and remains undefeated in conference play at 2-0. In contrast, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns hold a 2-3 overall record, with a 1-0 record in the Sun Belt.

Preseason expectations favored both teams to be strong contenders in their respective divisions. James Madison was a popular pick to win the Sun Belt East, while Louisiana was anticipated to be a top team in the West.

However, their performances to date show a clear advantage for the Dukes. Offensively, James Madison is averaging 31.3 points per game to Louisiana’s 28.2. Both teams feature strong rushing attacks, with the Dukes gaining 249.3 yards per game on the ground and the Ragin’ Cajuns averaging 212.2.

The most significant disparity lies on the defensive side of the ball. James Madison’s defense has been formidable, allowing a mere 15.3 points per game and just over 200 yards of total offense to their opponents. Louisiana’s defense, on the other hand, has struggled, giving up an average of 32.2 points and over 400 yards per game.

Key statistical comparisons further highlight James Madison’s edge:

Category Louisiana James Madison
Overall Record 2-3 4-1
Conference Record 1-0 2-0
Points Per Game 28.2 31.3
Opp. Points Per Game 32.2 15.3
Passing Yards/Game 122.4 160.8
Rushing Yards/Game 212.2 249.3

Given James Madison’s strong start to the season, their dominant defense, and the home-field advantage at Bridgeforth Stadium, they are the clear favorites in this matchup. While the Ragin’ Cajuns have the offensive capability to keep it competitive, their defensive struggles will likely be the deciding factor against a well-rounded Dukes team.

Prediction: James Madison 34, Louisiana 20

Lunch’s first away game as starter. Those are never good

I watched most of the JMU vs. G State game. GSU is arguably a bottom 1 or 2 team in the league, and they had several opportunities to actually win that game. The line was the same as ours and JMU was on the road.

JMU has a great defense and is tough at home. JMU wins, but the blowout predictions are a bit much. They are not Missouri.

Also, let’s welcome any and all Seinfeld references for the Dukes’ leading RB.
