I will use this thread to continually post updated game notes throughout the season.
The New Orleans Saints (0-1) will host the San Francisco 49ers (1-0) on Sunday. Kickoff for the contest is at 12:00 pm, which will be on FOX.
This is the 79th regular season meeting between the Saints and 49ers, with San Francisco leading the series 49-27-2. New Orleans has won six of the last 10 regular season meetings. The 49ers won the last meeting in 2022, 13-0. 49ers QB Brock Purdy is OUT for this game, and Mac Jones is projected to start.
In the 78 regular season games of the series there has been:
⢠Two seven-game San Francisco winning streaks from 1974-77 and from 1996-99
⢠A six-game regular season winning streak for New Orleans from 2002-10.
⢠A 15-25 record for the Saints in home contests, including a 27-13 win on November 15, 2020, the last matchup at the Superdome.
⢠37 games decided by double-digits.
⢠12 games decided by 21-or-more points.
⢠38 games decided by a touchdown or less.
Rattler just needs that first win. It would be great to get it against the 9ers. Heās got some talent. Feel bad for him as heās not gotten a whole lot of help.
The offense is just so hard to watch. Mirrors the Cajuns, really.
I think Moore can have success. Heās an offense guy. He obviously feels that he can win with Rattler. Just need to play to his strengths. Get a few breaks and improve over last year. Wonāt be too hard.
Hopefully the Saints can pull out a win over the Cheaters (as Kevin Foote refers to them). The Saints will not have many opportunities to win games this season but I think this is one of them. A win over the hated 49ers would be sweet.
Watched a little when we stopped for lunch but mostly listened while driving. Saints again look like a āteamā and compete but the roster isnāt a winning roster. Rattler is looking like a solid QB but can he become that franchise winning QB is the question.
That loss was SQUARELY on the defense. Saints offense had 300 total yards, Kamara had 100+ rushing, and 3 players had 50+ yards receiving. Thats good enough to win.
The Seattle Seahawks (1-1) look to build on last weekās win over the Steelers as they welcome the New Orleans Saints (0-2) to Lumen Field.
The Seahawks offense totaled 395 yards last week, scoring twice in three trips inside the Red Zone. The Saints have come up just short in each of their first two games. However, Spencer Rattler has been solid, throwing for 421 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.
Fun Fact: New Orleans has won each of the last four games against Seattle.
Moneyline: New Orleans Saints (+320), Seattle Seahawks (-410)
Spread: Seahawks -7.5
Total: 41.5 points
My prediction:
Another close game ends with another disappointing defensive performance. Sam Darnold and Kenneth Walker perform well at home against a struggling Saints defense. Spencer Rattler throws for 200 yards and 2 TDs, but itās not enough to overcome Seattleās ā12th Manā
I think Seattle dog-walks us unless we pick off Darnold 2-3 times. Which is definitely possible. I wouldnāt mind an ugly game filled with turnovers. I just have nightmares of playing in that place.
The Saints (0-3) will go back on the road for the second consecutive week to battle the Buffalo Bills (3-0) on Sunday at noon. The Saints and Bills have met 12 times with New Orleans holding a 7-5 lead, having a ļ¬ve-game winning streak in the series broken in a 31-6 Bills win in the 2021 Thanksgiving matchup at the Caesars Superdome. The Saints have a 4-1 record in road contests, the only loss a 27-21 decision at Rich Stadium on October 30, 1983. The teams ļ¬rst faced off in 1973, as the Saints recorded a 13-0 shutout, the ļ¬rst in club history.
