Men's Basketball: Cold First-Half Shooting Too Much For Cajuns Against Coastal

Coastal Carolina came into Thursday's Sun Belt Conference game against Louisiana having won six of their last eight conference games thanks to sharpshooting guard play.

Too many easy shots missed. Too many free throws missed. Too many turnovers down the stretch.

Plenty of chances to win this one.

I hope Q focuses heaving on recruiting shooters and low turn over guys this offseason. I’m okay if they aren’t the greatest on D…that’s coachable and our defense overall isn’t bad

As I’ve stated many times before, I don’t follow basketball. It’s completely out of sight and mind for me. However, I have paroused some of these game/post game threads, and just looked at this team’s current schedule.

They started 1-11, and are now 9-17, having won four in a row prior to this loss. It’s always said that when a program is way down in terms of result, morale and overall fan support, it takes time for even a good coach to start to get things turned around.

Maybe by the time SBC tournament season rolls around, Coach Q can have this team competing to make a run. I’m not predicting them to win the tournament, but they may be a very tough out and advance a couple rounds before losing. Hopefully something that can be built on for next season.

It was a poorly played game last night. These nights happen. Without the horrible start, a game like this would just be caulked up to having a bad night.

I see a whole long more positive than negative in the last 7 games.

I will also say it again. Personally, I think some of the recent injuries have help the current players we have. They are getting more playing time. The reps and experience has rapidly increased due to the injuries and players having to step up.

Yes, I wish we would have never lost Keller and Lewis. We could easily argue that they are 2 of the most talented players on the roster. But its a huge kudos to the players that are playing right now. They are stepping up and contributing heavily to the success that we have had in the last month.
