But am I the only one who thinks it’s idiotic to allow every single team into the tournament? Seems to me you should have to be at least Top 8 or 10 to be awarded the opportunity to compete in the tournament for an NCAA bid.
I think the whole gauntlet tournament format is idiotic. If you wanna protect your top two seeds then give them a buy to the semis. Cut it to 10 teams. Seeds 3-10 play first round then quarters.
For example….
First round:

(4) vs (9)
(5) vs (8)
(6) vs (7)
Quarterfinals:
Winner of (3/10) vs Winner of (6/7)
Winner of (4/9) vs Winner of (5/8)
Semifinals:
(1) vs Lowest Remaining Seed
(2) vs Highest Remaining Seed
