Grand Jury Indicts Josh Guillory on Felony Malfeasance Charges
I’m not a Lafayette resident, so I have no opinion, but what do y’all think here? The guy was taking a victory lap a little over a week ago and now this.
I’m pretty neutral on Guillory. I agree with his theories on breaking red bureaucratic tape in government but I think the people behind him gave awful guidance. I also think at best, he made very poor decisions with his business decisions and at worst, was corrupt af. (As politicians mostly are)
Seems like a decent guy overall. I’m just not sure he should be leading any public body or organization. He’ll end up beating the charges. It’s a process crime after all and most of it seems like petty grievances.

This was my main issue with the guy:
Yeah…unless I’m missing something, this seems like a civil suit for damages rather than criminal, unless there’s some governmental or environmental law with criminal penalties I’m not thinking of.
Also, knowing Chester Cedars and respecting him, I don’t take his opinion of what Guillory did lightly.
Also agree with you, though, on Josh’s “get this done and stop making excuses” attitude. Several Lafayette M-P Presidents before him did little more than give excuses when it came to flooding and drainage problems in the parish. Josh, at least, and right or wrong, was at least trying to do something because when he ran, that was the #1 issue for most voters in the parish.
